Well, it’s Tuesday, and despite honoring the Tuesday with two layers of pink clothing to ward off any bad juju, I had to go back to the doctor for another round, or should I say, an upgrade in antibiotics? Yay. Don’t get me wrong, I remain astounded by modern medicine, just not how I want to spend time.
Also, I miss my retired doctor. We had a good relationship. Or, I did. If he really cared about me, he’da worked until I died even though he’d been my doctor since I was 11 and people don’t usually work until they’re 120 years old. He wanted to travel and write. The gall of him. Pfft.
Otherwise, it was a good day.Ā I crossed two things off my list. I broke into my orange slices.
Wicked cold comes this way tomorrow. The Indianapolis Star and everyone I talked to today told me so. Thank you, Wisconsin. We’d really hoped for your August weather, but clearly we’ll be getting your January weather instead.

Winter ProTip: It’s easier to stay warm if you hop or stomp and swear with every breath.
Now, that’s warmer than had been predicted and as I’ve mentioned, weather is relative. People so dramatic, “IT’S COLDER THAN ANTARCTICA!” I roll my eyes. Sometimes it’s hotter here than in Florida, okay? Still, even I, lover of winter, think that’s too cold. I know I’ll survive because several years ago, I stood at the bus stop for over a half hour with my kids when it was -19 feels like -40 and I lived. I don’t know why we had school then but not tomorrow. So inconsistent. Schools and universities are closed tomorrow. There’s work, of course. Not too keen on drivin in the snow squalls, though. The Mister took the day off and said he will drive me to work. I will like that.
I like my husband.
Soon, I’m going to bed. I also like bed. It’s especially nice on a very January Tuesday.

Temperatures like that would make it nearly impossible for my brain to tell my feet to carry me out the door. Oh no sir, I’ll stay tucked away in that bed, thank you very much. And yes, your husband is wonderful. š

Is it me… or is every winter storm and drop in temperature reported on like the apocalypse now? Holy Hell! Snow? And frigid temps in winter? Alert the media!

Well I must agree. The nerve of some people. Imagine the nerve of that doctor. It is so FN cold. Why is it so FN cold. I can understand elementary and high schools closing because of kids walking and waiting on buses but College kids? I think it sends the wrong message. Most employers expect people to come to work in the cold. Sad but true. Stay warm and have a good Tuesday.

LOTS of people didn’t go to work today. The roads were not heavily populated. It was noticeable.
I think for colleges, it’s about the walkers, the cyclists, the commuters. When I was at BSU we had class when it was -20 and although I put on my gear and schlepped my ass all the way out to west quad, my prof canceled. As did the rest of them, all damn day. President took a lot of flak for not closing that day. Much frostbite, many angry parents.

Cold here, too. I’m just hoping we don’t cancel our writers group meeting; I love those. Last week, only three of us showed up. If everybody wimps out this week (we meet every week), I don’t know what! I guess I’ll have to call one of them and talk story over the phone. Except I have no beer. The sorrow is real.

I remember how much you like cold weather. I’m a kindred spirit, but there is a limit. Most of the problem is the other guy on the streets. Better to park the busses on those days. Many times I’ve been the only guy at work, because I know how to drive on this stuff. I’m starting to question the logic in that.

The Mister is starting to question that as well. Lots of people didn’t go in today. There was barely any traffic on the commute in and out today.

Maybe. Mine stopped and filled my car up. I thought it was dumb. I had more than 1/2 tank and the price was high. But Oh! The Chivalry! LOL

53 is to be our high today, but 74 on Sunday. We got ground hog day and Imbolc coming soon. That means the end of too cold is near.

Imbolc. As I have no sheep, they do not lactate. I always say that’s the day it’s finally light before I wake up, but that’s only until they jack up the time again.

I drove home from Boston early this morning because the snow we weren’t supposed to get landed as five inches. Oh well, the driveway and sidewalk are clear, there’s a fire in the wood stove, I’m working from home and Maddie has a full functional set of rest areas. It’s heading to -3 tonight feels like death on a stick. But, better than Bickerchick up there in WI.

I know what you mean about your retired doctor. Itās a relationship, and itās about continuity. My ophthalmologist retired three years agoāsheād been my doctor since I got eyeglasses in 10th grade. I so dreaded a visit with someone new that I put off going for two years. I finally scheduled an appointment in September when I couldnāt read the text clearly on the computer screen anymore.

I’m sorry to hear the not feeling well stuck around. I miss my original doctors. I don’t love that part about moving someplace new. I asked around and got lucky with our family doctor. I really like him. Cold is definitely relative. I had to reshare a meme one of my Florida friends put on FB because it was so accurate about Floridians with a cat 5 hurricane bearing down vs below 60 degrees (accompanied by humorous battle scenes). I would argue that the second photo is below 70 degrees. I’m shocked at how much I’ve adapted to Virginia weather, but not to -40 wind chill!! Brrr..
