#ThursdayDoors — Jot Plus Door, with Snow

It’s 10:30 and I am home.
I am so glad to be home.

FIL is here. Say hi to Papaw, Everyone. It’s not every day I come home to Papaw in my green chair. It’s not every day he has plans to come into the city the snow forces him to sleep on the sofa chez nous.

We went to TWO high schools tonight. Sometimes that happens. You’d think one parent goes one place and the other parent goes to the other, and we do, but sometimes the things are special, and both parents go to one and the other kid gets butthurt. Fortunately it’s not the same kid every time. Well, at least not here.
Sometimes one kid’s thing, or her part of the thing, gets done in time to see the other kid do her thing.
And tonight was magical that way.

It is an awesome night to be me. The mommer pride tide is high. Floods of tears! Swells of joy!

Alas, the only door of interest today:

But is it a door?

YES! Yes it is!

img_1117.jpg

Tis like a barn door, but with metal.

I really love dooring, and I love y’all, but I love myself and value my personal safety and so I did not cross the lot of cars driven by a thousand frenzied parents in order to get a single shot.

Big snow tonight. No one I’ve talked to knows how much snow’s coming. Probably because they’re all people who are busy working and parenting and driving. There’s a polar vortex ya know. It’s all snowy and slippery. It’s a bit warmer now. Oh yeah, it’s 12 now. Woot.

My biggest complaint is that my warmest coat is my Simon jacket (twas my nephew’s) I took it because I thought it’d be nice for working in garden, particularly when it was stick carryin time. It’s all stained and holey like some teenager boy wore it every day all the time for five years. It’s way too hot to wear at stick time. It’s also too hot to wear in the spring when I roll the leaves back. It is ideal for temperatures hovering around zero, but it’s slightly embarrassing to wear it to things. Goes great with my gray knit boots. So sensible. *rolls eyes* Hand to God, it’s like wearing the heaviest pelts of the ugliest animals.
I want a bright and happy puffy coat. Bright and happy. And I want bright and shiny gold boots. Ferreal. Keep an eye out.

Gonna be almost 60 this weekend. I might see some doors.

And THAT is my last JusJoJan Jot! Yayyy!

It’s 10:27 here. I must be in one of those time delays they do on TV. Glad you’re home too. Have a great Friday.

“Hi Papaw!” I have a bright and happy puffy coat and I agree that you need one, too. I don’t wear it often but when I do I know no one is going to miss me. That’s how bright she be. We have snow here this morning but I’m so over winter that I haven’t even looked to see how much of it is out there. Snow. Ok. Your door photos are just enough, btw. No need to risk life and limb to get up close… if you don’t have a bright and happy puffy coat. Obvs.

  4. I say when it’s polar vortexing, the microwave and the fridge have doors too. No need to go outside. Times like this are why you should have picked up that one door. Use it like a mulligan by placing it on your deck or something.

Your one door is TOTALLY AWESOME! I love the way it raggedy opens, or appears to. Wear your ugly warm coat when it’s cold and Honi soit qui mal y pense (motto of the Order of the Garter: Shame on him who thinks ill of it. Hey to Papaw!

Hi Papaw! So glad you made it to both things (even more glad that it’s you and not me driving from thing to thing). Never risk injury or death getting a door photo! I’m pretty sure that’s in Norm’s instructions, right after the “don’t call me for bail money” part. Enjoy the warm weather.

Cool looking barn door. Where’s the roof?

  7. I know the Mid West is suffering through record breaking cold, but that doesn’t mean every other state’s weathermen has to jump on board. Ours whined for days about the arctic blast, low temps, high winds. Yesterday? A normal 9 degrees with a breeze that OMG! Blew some snow around. Suck it up buttercup, it’s winter.. in Maine. Sh*t happens. Don’t like it? Move to Florida… where you can report on sink holes and hurricanes.

Florida is so ew. I cannot. I lived in Georgia for seven years. Southeast Georgia. The lo country. So low, they cain’t even spell it right 😉 Nope. I’m a Yankee, through and through! Bundle up and swear, but it won’t last forever!

Nice to meet you Papaw! I am too big to wear a puffy jacket, I’d look like the Michelin man. I am ever so thankful for the heated seats in my little Moonglow so that when I have to go out I am all warm and comfy. Glad that you were able to make both of the kid’s things. I had 3 kids in different schools but fortunately they didn’t schedule things on the same nights.

I have also had three kids in three different schools, although never all four in different ones. These two attend the same school, so you’d think… but no.
No one is too big to wear what they like. That’s just silly.

Hi Pawpaw. Cool au bout that you could make it to both things. As for snow and cold, January has been especially just brutal around here this year.

Well it is noon Friday. I don’t often computer at night. Congratulations on your jot completion. I will keep my eyes open for a pair of gold metallic boots. Stay safe and have a great weekend.

  11. Gonna be messy this weekend when all this snow melts, but such is life in the MIdwest in winter. C’est la vie. Enjoy the weekend and congrats on making it through jotting January.

  12. I love how you describe your jacket, images of Grizzly Adams flashing through my head right now, lol. I bought a puffy coat when I was going to Budapest in Hungary for a winter weekend. It gets a lot colder there than it does in Ireland. Worth the money, though. Nine winters later I’m still wearing it. We just don’t have enough freezing days here to wear it out. Stay warm, Joey.
