I Missed Blogland

Last Saturday, Sissy and her wee people came to Indiana and thusly we spent the afternoon with our family — Mottern, Party of 15. Oh my goodness, my heart nearly burst from all the happy! Wonderful, magical time, heart-heart. So much laughing and hugging and so many photos to commemorate the day!

And then I got good and sick. Down for three days. Despite Lysine and rest — fever, swollen lymph nodes, headache, and epic lipsplosion!

The only ‘selfie’ you’ll see of me from last week is the one of my shadow — look how ginormous my pants are and how tiny my head is! It reminded me of one of those children’s books from the 70s. (If you had them, you know.)

I want to tell you all this was a better week, but it just wasn’t. There was the sick. There was a death in the family. Bubba ended up back at hospital as his issue is still not resolved, work continues to accumulate faster than we can complete it and my being gone helped none of us, and hand to God, some nitwit is still texting in that group text from more than a week ago and I am thiiiiis close to posting that phone number right here, but I wanna take the high road, ya know?

I’m not saying I wasn’t physically healthy and emotionally stable enough to sit through the swim banquet, only that they played Blackbird, so I hadda cry at the slideshow of everyone’s beautiful talented babies, some of whom I don’t even know.
That song makes you cry, too, right?

Even I got a bad grilled cheese this week. There wasn’t enough cheese to hold the breads together and it was overcooked.

A sandwich!
A shoelace!
My husband’s shirt!
My hair!
A stapler!
— Things I’ve broken a nail on lately. If that’s not bad enough, I want you all to know, this week I realized both my index fingers are too crooked to line up my electronic pool shots.

The week did improve overall as it went on.

Thursday we got an extra teen — one of those kids who’s delightful enough to stay at your house for five days? Rare, I know. I made spaghetti carbonara and a bigass salad and bread, and we did so feast and laugh well into the night. Friday Master Boombastic came spent the day and we had pizza and gelato and movies. Today, we drove Sassy to friendlet out of the city and we got Starbucks and the sun was all warm and shiny and I decided it was a good time to take to the park. It was very, very good.

Now I’ve got my black pepper chicken and my laptop.
I won’t catch up, but I’ll be around, cause I missed y’all!

I’m full of gratitude tonight and I’m happy to be back in blogland to share that with you.

Sending good thoughts your way and love the hill photo upview with moo and friend – the scale and the spring air can be felt.

And we had a crazy sorts couple weeks too – won’t most the small annoyances – but do have to share that I had a cold sore for ten days this month – and loaded up on lysine to no avail. But the worse part was near the nose – ugh – I am never one to get the lip to nose and this time – no lip – just there – maybe it was not a cold sore after all but looked like it – I finally dried the thing out with peroxide and packed borax on top! Wow was that calming – soothing and dried it up.
Side note a activated charcoal did not work this time.
I kept the lysine coming and my NAC (loving that) and then vitamin c “ascorbic acid” Thompson’s brand – I did what some call the shot and makeshift IV
I took a huge dose (with oil)
And then sipped a strong bottle of it all day – and ignite helped to much – it was gone in 48 hours!
Check out the Thompson’s vitamin c cos it is my husband’s number one item to have too all things to help heal – and he swears by what it does to help – it is not needed for everyday but this little
Powerhouse rocks the body’s Nd helps so much (it is under ten bucks) and ugh – wish I could bring you a sample with some soup (even tho I know you are on the mend – here is virtual soup – a big pot)

I need to pick up some other things, so I will get some Thompson’s vitamin C for when I need a boost, so thanks. Never considered taking it for something like this. Only for colds. Do you take it no matter what fight is in the body?
This cold sore might be the fastest healing one I’ve ever had. It’s been 8 days and I am left with a tiny spot on my actual lip, whereas before it could be a month. (I thank Lysine, which has often killed them before they began, and you’re the one who told me, I can’t thank you enough for that, even if it didn’t repress it entirely this time. Probably too much going on. Been sick a lot, had a lot of external stressors.) I’m sorry to know you’ve also suffered from an owie spot this month.
This weekend was so good, best in many weeks — more balanced. Felt like I EARNED it, ya know?
Hoping your week ahead is a good one, Y, thanks again!

Well Joey – mike was almost gone (within a week) and I stupidly had a a devils backbone eight point IPA and burger with the bun on it (bread and beer are no longer accepted by my body) and it made the thing get a new life and it hurt – the peroxide and borax quieted it down – and then two days of vitamin c shots (I made 2 oz of water with half a teaspoon) and sometimes do a shot of olive oil or flex seed oil.
By the way – a friend was just here and she said her naturopath doc has her rubbing flaxseed oil on all scars – supposedly stuff gets stuck in scars (allergies – microbes?) and so she puts flax seed oil on her belly button and small scars three times a day for a month – hmmm
Anyhow – the reason I take oil with vitamin c is to allow it to be fat solubale and less abrasive on vessels – which is also why this ascorbic acid is not taken every day – can be abrasive long term.
But omg Joey – I forget how great it is sometimes and then take it again and feel grateful.

Looking forward to hearing how it works out for you

That’s interesting about the flaxseed oil and scars. I just have one scar and it gives me no trouble, or so I think, but that’s curious, isn’t it?

I think getting older is the process of elimination — and this has pluses and minuses. The only beer I can drink without regret is lambic fromboise, and I rarely drink it. Bread, I have to be a bit careful about — bakery and homemade are good, packaged sliced manufactured breads, not so much. I generally save that for pbj indulgence.

Good to know about the fat/C intake. Good info.

I guess she told her doc she had no scars and that was when he said belly button – and some folks might have a bit of scar tissue where former cold sores were (or not)
They also are taking desiccated liver tablets (In 2014- i used the powder of grass fed liver to give my health a huge boost and it did wonders ) they have enzymes (sparks of life and I mainly get mine from kombucha)
And whew it sure is so individual as to what we need and takes detective work – patience – openness – but also wisdom to discern – and so patience and long haul thinking is key…. one day at a time so we can see what works or just get mentally ready for this or that

Offal is making a big comeback. Marrow too. I eat marrow where I can, and make bone soups. I’m not too keen on meats, and my family is not open minded about organs, so if I make braised kidneys, liver etc, once the dog and I have had our small healthy portions, it’s waste. Sigh. I’m very open and know from my own experiences, good food is good health — but you know how I do, I do that bad food too 😉

I am glad you had a good time with your family, and I’m glad you’re feeling better. I hope you’re having a great weekend.

Sadie looks happy to be hanging with you. Ooh, I also said something about liking the long shadows.

  23. I’m so sorry you were sick with the lip thing, and Bubba is in the hospital again. I hope they can get him fixed up!
It was a week wasn’t it!

I got home from Baby Girl’s and starting packing up my house. We were planning to make a run to the new house and leave more of our stuff, but The Handsome Surveyor took a turn for the worse so Baby Girl and he decided to come here to the hospital where there’s a real doctor for what is ailing him. At his base hosp. there are Doctors who specialize in things that are close to his issue, but not really his problem. It took ALL. DAY. TO. GET. A. ROOM! A FULL 24 HOURS!
Lots of flu and sick going around just now.

His mother came down too. So, I’ve got the Littlest, Baby Girl, and his Mom in and out, and coming home to sleep and shower. We’re missing our #1 who is at his Dad’s this week-end though.
There was snow in the mountains that we need to cross to get our new house which required chains and stuff, so, all in all, I believe I was meant to be here this week-end.

We didn’t have sunshine, but it looks like it’s going to make an appearance today so with any luck I can bundle up our littlest, wrestle out the stroller and go for a walk myself. Can you believe he’ll be 8 weeks old on Tues! He’s starting to get these little rolls of fat on his thighs. It’s so cute! Squeee! 😁

I’m so glad you had sunshine, a walk in the park, and oodles of fun, laughter, hugs, and the love of family while you were out of the blogosphere, but I’m glad you’re back! I missed your humor, and spin on life. Hoping by now you’re all better!

Similar to your Surveyor, Bubba has had to go to a larger hospital with a specialist and that has been painful and scary for him and worrisome for all of us. He may get some relief toward the end of the week. We hope and pray and I hope and pray for Surveyor as well. 😦 Resolution would be of great comfort to us all.
I do believe you were meant to be home at this time, yes. You make for good glue holding together all the people in a difficult time, handling details and shuffling responsibilities. (And handling fat baby thighs 🙂 !)
Here’s to all of us having a lot more literal and figurative sunshine this week!

I’m sorry to hear that you got sick and also that Bubba was back in the hospital. I hope that you are both fully on the mend. My condolences on your family loss as well. That song and a slideshow of yours and others’ babies…definitely tears. I break nails way too easily and I don’t know electronic pool, but I once had a nail tech tell me I had the most crooked fingers that she’d ever seen. Needless to say, I never returned to her (as if I wasn’t self-conscious about it already).
