I LOVE THIS!
When I married mine he was a dog lover, no cats. Not ever. Within 2 years? We had 5…. and he was a convert. Cats. They wear you down with purring.
🐈
He-Man was yelling at me as I was going out the door on a road trip down south to adopt Diva Dog, ” DON’T YOU GO GET THAT DOG. WE’RE NOT DOG PEOP….!
I shut the door before he could finish that last word. I got home the following afternoon with 5-month-old Diva Dog and in less than an hour, he was walkin her around the block, giving her all kinds of treats, and head over heals smitten! Not dog people my ass! 😃
Oh Deborah, that is a delightful story! Haha! I’m sorry you miss your Diva Dog
The Mister is a cat person, maybe not a kitten person? Too much mischief, maybe. The dog he really didn’t want, he really didn’t, and he LOVES her, too!
I’ve been there. Our oldest left home, adopted a pit bull, then moved back. Of course the dog had to stay a bit longer when he moved back out. (About twelve years longer.) He wound up being a damned good dog.
That picture with Cletus’ head on the Mister’s shoulder is adorable (and a very good photo). When I was bringing our first cat home, my wife reminded me that she was allergic. Didn’t matter, she loved that cat for 17 years.
My grandfather was not a cat person. One day our cat decided to take a nap inside the engine of his truck. It was a quick death, not his fault but he felt really bad. He came home that day with a little kitten. Didn’t take long before the two bonded. My grandmother swore she was seeing a miracle.
Those faces! (Both of them.) My guy was a dog person. Insisted on it. Declared he’d never love a cat, ever ever ever.
Fast forward to Mia who he ADORES and plays with every single day. He insists it’s because she’s more like a dog than a cat but that’s just because he doesn’t want to admit cats are cool…
Yup – I have one of those too. Theo has a certain mister in our house wrapped around his paw – the same mister who was absolutely dead-set against having a cat 🙂
I would like to have a cat again some day. in my experience, they’re easier than dogs. Maybe I will share this with a certain someone who loves only dogs.
Critters are that way. They sense you have an issue with them and they go above and beyond to MAKE you care for them.

Aww, thanks for the warm fuzy post, Joey. It appears the Mister adores Cletus and vice versa. Is that called a Cat-mance or a Cat-man-mance or what?
