#ThursdayDoors — Good Intentions

If I only had a door…

Okay, I have a lot of doors. I may even have hordes of doors, as I have been hoarding them, because

If I only had the time…

Well I just don’t. I mean, we all get the same amount of time in each day, but I’ve been working over a lot, some because work is crazed and some because I have been out for appointments, and if you can imagine, while I’m off seeing doctors or hauling kids to doctors, no one does my work.

Every day, Moo tells me stories and Sassy spills the tea. Can’t miss that stuff.
I must affectionate my beloved, the children, and the animals.

Bitches gotta eat, and sometimes they gotta cook. If there’s enough goin on, a bitch may even have to do dishes. Sometimes a bitch does a random chore a day. Sometimes people come to our house. Sometimes they just drop by, like a bitch ain’t even tryina chill on her sofa with some grilled cheese and a crime drama. I sometimes choose to read. Sometimes choose to read blogs.

I try to squeeze in some exercise, with fresh air if I can, because tryina stay baby hippopotamus size so I may live longer, as livin longer will increase the opportunity to consume more ice cream.

Then there are things I want to do, like paint my nails or write a letter to a friend. Prolly just leave nail polish on my side table for two weeks and carry the pretty card around in my bag for a month.
*has a whole drawer of fings for Orb*
*has a fing on the bookshelf for Benson*
*has a card in her bag for True*
Will she mail them? Will she?

My friends and extended family don’t get my attention much. I mailed my mother a note in a pretty card, put a photo of her granddaughter it, and when she got it, she was so happy, she acted like I had given her another grandchild. Clearly I have neglected my mother.

I see memes on social media about how we’re never too busy to make time for the people who are truly important and I think oh shit, that might be about me and then I think I don’t even make enough time for myself, so if it’s about me, they gonna hafta let it go, like I test the stretch of my green trousers because pad Thai is better than yoga, like I let my right eyebrow grow under my hair like a psychotic centipede, like how I am overdue for my blood panel.

Unfortunately, adult responsibilities enter the time zone as well. No one wants to do things or or deal with things or make phone calls about things but there’s important shit ya just gotta do. For me, it’s about 95% first world problems, 4% actual problems, and 1% whiny bitch wishes she was a more powerful witch who could replicate herself so that at least one of her could just enjoy one fucking moment of peace.

Om.
There must always be Om.

People be all, Jesus Take The Wheel, and I’m over here like, “ANYONE, take the list!” Fortunately, The Mister does sometimes take the list. Heart-heart-gush-gush.

It seems I can only do two to three, maybe four of the non-essential things per evening. Except on Friday. On Friday, I can do most things? Fridays are magical.

Many nights, I just want my comfies, my bed, my husband, and some tv. My happy place is rubbing my feet across the quilt while I rest in the crook of The Mister’s arm, my head on his chest. Cue the sleep. Mmm, sleeeeeeeep. Have I mentioned I’m a much better sleeper these days?

I cannot seem to get up earlier to link a blog post. I can get up early on the weekend, which I do NOT understand, and which I recognize may signify I’ve reached adulthood, but there is nothin, I mean nothin that can get me out of bed one moment earlier. One day, I got ready faster and I was pissed, because I could have stayed in my bed another seven minutes.

This month has been so busy, that when I saw Earth Day in my social media feeds, I was all, they must do it earlier in europe… and then I realized …yeah, five to seven hours earlier, holy crap it’s almost may!

How we got here, I dunno. I feel like there was a lotta typin and drivin? Non? Two months without doors. I swear, I’ve had the BEST of intentions.

I’m telling you, you are amazing. 3 or 4 chores in ONE night? That’s my week. And the list. That line made me laugh out loud, really loud.

  4. You hoard doors, I hoard chocolate. It’s all good…
Sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day to accomplish all we want, sometimes there are…and we just say to hell with it and blog.
    But that’s probably just me.
    😉

And Ha! I’m with on “it’s about 95% first world problems, 4% actual problems, and 1% whiny bitch wishes she was a more powerful witch”.

My witch super power would be the ability to not overthink.

At least I’m sleeping again. There is that. Not sure why. Not gonna try an figure it out either.

Good doors. The rest of it yeah. Similar over here. But I might get some time to rest up from this past year in May when I plan to say NO to anyone who wants to visit. I have introvert’s worst hell disease right now. Company all over the place.

Lawdy Lawd Girl that was quite the post. You almost made me feel guilty for having time to indulge myself. Almost. Aww you got a fing for Benson. So sweet. Gallery now has fresh oysters for Brunch. Don’t know how you feel about such things but I love them. With a shot of lemon and Crystal. Try to relax and find time for yourself.

I frickin love oysters! Love! I love them raw with nothin, or anythin!
You should not be feeling guilty at all, not even close, cause you’ve already done this section of life. And what was I doin then? Pshaw!
I shall relax this evening and again on Sunday evening, as in between will be busyness.

  11. Good capture of the bus and a great post. I can relate to so much of this, Joey. Especially when my kids where younger and still living with us and my time was never my own (except when I forced it to be).

Good doors. You know I’ll take a trolley door over almost anything. At least you have good intentions. There are folks who don’t. I swear, some days I think I work with some.of them. If not, I certainly share the highway with them. They’re everywhere. I think you deserve some ice cream this weekend.

    • joey says:

Thanks, Dan 🙂 I DO deserve ice cream! Yes! Maybe even all three days 😛
I work only with people who have good intentions. (at least at work, haha!) Unfortunately, I share the road with the same idiots you do.
Drivin 50 down 56th St this mornin, is 35 and then 25 in the school zone, but honestly, I think 45-50 is the norm. People pass me all the time. So this lady passes me, in her black Malibu with her Mary Kay bumper sticker, and she whipped out from behind me and whizzed by me so fast, she had to have 10-15 mph on me. I didn’t see her for a long time, until I pulled up to the light before my work. There she was, to my right, and she ended up 2 cars behind me. That’s a lot of drama to end up at the same red light, lol!

This is this week’s most perfectest sentence ever:

“I try to squeeze in some exercise, with fresh air if I can, because tryina stay baby hippopotamus size so I may live longer, as livin longer will increase the opportunity to consume more ice cream.”

ICE CREAM IS THE REASON! YES!

There’s never enough hours in a day to get it all done, but somehow you manage.
Happy Friday & hope you have a peaceful weekend with lots of ‘you’ time. 🙂

  16. Maybe when company interrupts your crime drama you should hand them a mop and suggest you clean together. Give them the caterpillar eyebrow look and they might be scared enough to do it.

  17. My mother once told me that raising kids is the hardest job you’ll ever do. (I’m sure she was talking about my brothers, not me …) All of us who have raised families understand the time constraints. Enjoy your ice cream, whenever you can find time for it.

BTW – I especially love the trolley photo. You actually managed to go out and take some door pictures, so you’re doing much better than me – and I no longer have all those childrearing responsibilities.

      Well thank you 🙂
Raising children is definitely the hardest job I’ve ever had. Especially when they were wee and there was so much manual labor. Now they’re more emotionally draining. But I’ve been here before, we’ll get through 🙂 I am certain your mom meant your brothers as well. I know I was a complete joy to raise 😛
More doors for you, more ice cream for me!

Love the trolley door bestest of all.
Hey, we get busy and time slips away from us. I’m having trouble keeping up these days and I don;t even have kids so I can only imagine the crazy in your days. That said, it still sounds like you got a good feel for all the important stuff.
Share’em when you can. The good thing about doors is that they’ll always be there silently waiting to be useful.

  21. Park shed (barn-like door) always gives you an amnesty for failure to post (I should know this by my missed opportunities). So don’t fret the small stuff, go with the flow and enjoy life, Joey! But then and again, your rants can be funny reading!

    Enjoy your weekend! 😀

  22. Usually I sit on the couch thinking of all the things I need to do until it gets too late to do them.
I liked this bit “as livin longer will increase the opportunity to consume more ice cream”. Amen, sister. Except in my case it’s about chocolate. Why bother exercising otherwise?
I love the trolley car. (Tram in Aussie.)

    That was good!
And the seven minutes of sleep really spoke to me because when I used to get up at 6 ish (glad that long season ended – but I loved it so much at first – funny how sometimes change is good) but I remember setting the alarm
For an extra few minutes of sleep and five – ten – or “seven” more minutes can be so helpful.
The three doors were a nice fit for the post – each had variety and matched the action and vibe of your post
