I did not die or fall off where the sidewalk ends. I did have an excess of busy and tired, and I went on vacation and then I returned to busyness, though less.
Mottern One held down the fort, Central Command.
I’m happy to tell you that I wasn’t near as sick on this trip as I usta be. My anxiety and my vertigo did not win. I was a little wobbly when we stopped one time, but I was generally okay. I drove through traffics, alongside semis and barrels and barriers and I was okay. Not once did I have to pray for solace or remind myself to breathe. Not once did I consider squinting my eyes shut and driving off a mountainside to make it stop.
I don’t hate the drive like The Mister does. He hates it. He is destination oriented and I am journey oriented. On my own, road trips with my kids were adventures, and took twice as long, but were more fun, cause stop and smell the kudzu or whatever.
Sergeant Mottern makes travel serious and shit. I am happy to say, he showed great restraint on this trip.
Vacation was HOT. It just be’d hot all the time. Just hot. People ask, “How was vacation?”
“Hot.”
Moo never complained of hot, and Sassy even commented one morning it was chilly outside (71F/21C). The Mister handles it better than I do physiologically, but he hates the hot, too. Hot. All the time, hot.
The best spot in my mother’s house is the standing-room-only one over the air vent.
Yes, Vent. Do it to me. Mmm.
My parents have this sorta oasis of shade. They live out there like the zerds. It’s a screen-y, blind-y, artsy, porch-type thing, with beautiful landscaping. Papa had me sittin in his spot there, where the fan blew on me constantly, but I still dripped with sweat all the whole time I was outdoors.
SO my mother made me margaritas.
My mommy loves me. And that’s why I went to south Florida on vacation.

I spent most of my vacations growing up in Acapulco. It was hot and a bit sweaty (possibly NOT as bad as Florida) when we arrived, but we were okay (as kids) pretty soon.
Mother got the margaritas.

Welcome back, Joey. You were missed. 🙂 That humid heat in Florida is killer, I must agree, but least you had margaritas. That makes life much better. I’m heading out soon for vacation, but as I’m going to about 7,000′ altitude in Wyoming (where it just snowed yesterday, no kidding!!), I’m ot at all worried about getting overheated. In fact, I’ll take a bit of that heat so that things dry out and the horses can be brought up the mountain and we can ride!!
I admit that I love driving and look forward to the two-day drive on my own. (Rest of family to follow.) I hope that your upcoming week back will be absolutely wonderful and just the right temperature.

Your mom and dad are the best, taking care of their sweaty daughter. And I’m glad that the drive didn’t make anyone crazy or dizzy. You should do these trips in February, when hot would feel good.

I had a similar experience (less anxiety) lately. It’s most awesome. Ya know, I think I’ll have to keep driving myself to the beach, though, just to make sure anxiety doesn’t get stronger again.

So glad you’re back and managed to survive it better than in the past. Here in the desert, it hasn’t been hot. Mostly still dripping water at night! I can’t believe it is June! I feel the same about road trips. LOVE ‘EM for the adventure and journey. I hate having to travel with a time element for the destination. I love stopping and enjoying the new places,

I’m glad this worked as well as it did. Traffic and hot are hard to overcome. Sounds like you did good. A mother’s love, a cool breeze and a strong drink should fix anything.

I love your Mom’s glasses and her margarita looks very cold and refreshing.
I don’t know how my Mom does it with all the humidity, and hot in FL. I don’t do well in humid, hot, and sticky all the time. Gimme just Hot, and warm and I’m happy. Gotta be a “dry heat” though. 😊

As for Florida in June? Glad you enjoyed your visit but for me? Hells no. There aren’t enough margaritas in the state to make me endure that kind of heat.

I’m glad you weren’t near as sick this vacation! I hate the driving past semis!! I did let Miss Sunshine do some driving on the backroads through central Florida, but not on the roads big enough to be filled with semis. I like to find the shady, breezy spots. Those margaritas look delish!! I’m glad you had a good visit. 🙂

Welcome home. Maybe. Do you miss the HOT yet? And that journey vs the destination thing? Normal female/male behaviour. The Husband always drives if he is in the car and no matter how urgently I exclaim “Oh look! There’s a winery/brewery/cidery/distillery/cheese factory!” he will not stop until we reach our destination. So the boys and I frequently made day trips without him. 😛

I’m glad you’re okay and home safe. Sounds like you had a good time seeing your bigger family. When we go the mountains, I’ve started going a slightly longer way that is more relaxing than the interstate. Husband has even decided he likes it since it’s only takes like 20 minutes longer. Instead of being on I-40 for 4 hours, we’re on it for 5 minutes during which my whole body is tense, but then I take a deep breath when the 5 minutes is over. I hope you get to go to Florida when it’s cooler.
