So that hotel The Mister swept me off to a few weeks ago, it had some gorgeous doors. Seriously gorgeous — Federal, marble, stone pediment, lots of architectural interest. I didn’t photograph any of that, because Hilton made sure to obscure it with a bright blue sorta awning breezeway type thing. I dunno. On the way home, I checked the pamphlet for bulletin points marked
- Inconveniences
(but did not find it)

The lobby was stunning. Use your imagination. Can you tell what this hotel usta be?
I feel like the stairway shot is a huge clue.

Yeah, right by the circle. Not sure about the boxes, but the chutes aren’t used anymore.

Nope, it’s a la carte
Last two hotels we stayed at had that pay-per-item and I don’t like it, not given the price of the room; it feels incredibly cheap. I even prefer the ones where you pay a flat fee. One of the best parts of our stay in Florida is the complimentary breakfast, wide variety, beautiful dining room with a view. And this last time – the honeydew was the highlight – it was perfect every morning.

Ooh classic old building. From the stairs my first thought was maybe a theater but bank makes sense too.
And those letter boxes are a thing of beauty.

I was in such a bank building as a child where the bank was the first floor, but most of the other flows had offices that rented space from the bank. They had one of those mail thinks and I recall asking my sister, who worked in the building, why they didn’t just take the elevator down and drop the mail in the box.

I worked in a building that still had the chutes but no one used them and I was disappointed. I was 43. Why were you so practical? Haha!
That building also had elevators with the lever-looking floor indicators. It was grand.
