SOCS – Three Fours, Fours are the Best

For my next post I will ponder for/fore/four.

For is for so much. Can’t hardly communicate without for. For instance, I love to shout, “For me?!?” Yes. for sure. When given something wonderful, often this is something yummy, hm? I light up and ask, “For me?!?” and this is followed by “Thank you!” and “How delightful!” for receiving yummies is fortunate business.

FORE! is an important word.

Four is my favorite. I dunno why. Always has been. Like yellow. Four is yellow, of course, and it smells like bananas and feels like pencils. I dunno. You’re either like that or you aren’t.

Four parts of plants and four moon phases. Four seasons are best. Four halves of toast with jam. Four kids are good for me. Two sets, two times. Big uns and wee ones but also two in the middle, because who should bear that middle child burden alone? Ours paired off in opposites, too — one older, one younger. Sassy worshiped Bubba and Moo belonged to Sissy. Plenty of photos of that. Most recently March, still paired up that way. Maybe birth order, maybe temperament, maybe resemblance. Dunno. Four is perfect. Four pets are good for me, too. Three cats and a dog. I thought it could be a hundred cats and a dog, and two goats, and six chickens, and a goldfish, but it turns out three cats and a dog are ideal.

For now, that is all I have to say about for, fore, and four.

    No, four for sure isn’t yellow! It’s a kind of orange-y pink. One is yellow and three is the best, because it’s blue. I love your post though. So many uses for the word “for/fore/four”.

    I don’t think I lean toward any one number. I deal in threes a lot, or I used to in food work. Three seems to be the proper number when you feed folks. When it comes to kids and pets 2 does it for me. Well I hope you have a Happy 4th and are able to stay cool.

      You too! You doin anything special? My friend HME might come for the 4th, that’d be nice. It looks like rain and I don’t know what we’ll do, but a day off work with the fam will be a good one regardless!

    Well done! It is interesting that your kids paired off the same as mine. #1 and #3 became besties and #2 adored his baby sister to the point I often never heard her cry. He brought her to me, “I changed her and everything. She wants to nurse. I can’t do that!” And I think I would have never seen her had she been bottle-fed. LOL! They are still very close. When they travel, or camp they bring their significant others and the group seems to love the close binds. I think it is so cool to watch that love spreading.

      I do too, very cool. I wonder how many families of four kids are like that? Sissy lives 800 miles away and has her own now and I sometimes think Moo feels really left out. Hopefully when she’s grown and her nephews are older, they’ll rekindle their bond. Sassy and Bubba remain tight. We just found out last night Moo and Bubba don’t even text one another. Like they don’t even have the other in their phones! O_O

    I wanted four kids, two of each, but didn’t work out that way. Five is actually my favorite number and that’s what we have in our family so it’s all good. Great little post today, Jill.

    Wow. That is cool. For now: “Fore!” was originally a Scots interjection, now used to warn anyone standing or moving in the path of a golf ball. Caddies were often warned about incoming golf balls by the shout, “fore-caddie” which was shortened to just ‘fore!'” So, there for.

    I’ve never been particularly fond of four, but I do love all the reasons you gave for four being so wonderful…seasons, moon phases…all great. 🙂 3 kids and 1 pet does make four though. My middle child definitely felt middle child burden. However, he also was the one who could pair with either side depending on his interest of the day.

    I have always loved squares – 4, 9, 16…. There is something wonderful about symmetry 🙂 Even when I work out, I ensure there is either a square or a multiple of 5 – my body hates me sometimes.
