SoCS –Clean v Dirty

Have y’all seen the commercial where the couple climbs into the backseat during the automated car wash, presumably for a quickie? My husband said the woman’s smile is false advertising. I said prolly now people are buying Corollas, deeply disappointed every time they go through the car wash. I definitely like my car clean, and speedily. Someone needs to vacuum my car and sadly, I’m someone. I don’t mind to get dirty, even I don’t mind gettin my hands dirty, but then, I like my hands clean, clean, clean. I like my hair dirty. Tis true. It’s a whole hair thing. In 2016 I went eight months without using shampoo and then I took up a bar shampoo that’s composed entirely of oils. Yes, that’s right, it’s true, three years, oiled hair. After I oil it, I put more oil in it. It’s not for everyone but it’s definitely for me. I like my body clean. If I don’t have to oil my hair, I prefer baths. I swear, I’m half-human, half-sponge. Hydrating from the inside is absolute rubbish. Good for all my internal organs and functions, but for the skin, oil. And more oil. I like my house clean. Remember when my house was clean? It was tidy, too, with everything in its place? Was it May? I think it was May. Now it’s somewhat clean on some days and almost never tidy. We spend a lot of time in our bedroom. Where the sheets are washed on Sunday because clean sheets are the cat’s meow. I like my clothes to be clean, except jeans, which are better dirty. I prefer my husband dirty. Just a lil. Man smell. Mmm. Which takes us back to the car wash.

These folks just dont understand about the hair oils, joey. I wash my hairs like once a week. Brush & comb it right after washing and thats about it. After that, its all throw away, hand brushing.
    Hair/hand oils=Good.
Stuff that sticks to hand/hair oils=BAD.

    Also, sex in a car…mmmmm. 😛

You did a great job of weaving that back around. I think we got out just in time – I wouldn’t want to be embarrassed,

I’ve not seen that commercial and I feel like I’m missing something. But that may not be the point of your post now that I think about it. 🤔

I have not seen that commercial but your description did give me some mental images. It also made me think of the cars I have owned over the years. Well the back seats anyway. Nicely done.

You can’t even sit in the back seat of a Corolla, let alone do much of anything else. I miss ’60’s and ’70’s cars…

  7. Have never understood the impossibility of doing anything good for the woman in a d*mn car. I personally think it’s a guy thing.

I need to find out more about hair oils. I’m going gray gracefully and looking to change things up.

If you have curls/waves/texture and you’re dry, it’s worth trying. There’s gobs of information online, and per the usual, you’ve got to try to glean what might work for you. I warn you though, giving up shampoo, no matter how you do it, will come with an adjustment period that feels gross. It will look fine and smell fine, but the gross feeling is legit until your scalp stops trying to compensate for all the shampoo. If you do give it up, you have got to get a boar bristle brush. Essential.
I am also graying naturally 🙂

LOL great stream Joey. Never in the back seat of a car. By the time it was time I had my own place. I do need to wash my car though. Thanks for the nudge.

LOL, Joey. You certainly know how to spin a tale around a car wash ad and the smell of your husband. You take me places that I never thought I would go.

I have to say “no” to oil in the hair. Mine is too fine, oil would mat it flat as a pancake. I need pouf, lots of pouf, and hair that will cover the unruly part down the back of my head.

Thanks! Hey! I have a cowlick on the back of mine, so we have that back of head situation in common. I understand your need for poof, I need much less poof, God gave me enough poof for both of us.

  16. I’ve tried the Co-wash thang, but it’s not for my hair. I thought it might be since I’m curly, fine, and dry, but nope. I’m still searching for the perfect hair routine. This morning wasn’t it. I only wash my hair once every 3 days, 4 days would be good, but my hair isn’t always up for that.

I was a Corolla gal for decades and He-Man and I never even went in the back seat. Dang!🤣

That was a spin-cycle of good, clean fun. I only wash my hair 2 x per week, after swimming. Don’t want my grey hair turning green.

Thank you! Right on. I spray detangler in mine before swim, but I have much less gray. I guess later it’s purple shampoo? I suppose one day I’ll find out.

  18. Hm, I think it normally takes about 2 minutes to run through the car wash on that conveyor. It would take me longer than that just to climb over the seat. Any woman (or man) that would be content with a two-minute quicky (or less, by the time they climb over the seat) should go for counseling. Just sayin’. (Oh, and don’t forget having to climb back over the seat and adjust clothing before the car emerges from the end of the conveyor.)

  20. Great post. In my era the pickups we all drove never had back seats, but they did come with a big bench seat that seems to have disappeared these days. Hair people all say the daily shampoo is bad for your hair. I use the oils, but only on my beard. My head hair is so thick I could lose half of it and still have a full scalp.

I’m still waiting on the clean house thing. When the kids start school all day, I WILL make it happen. As long as I don’t get distracted and get absorbed in a project of some sort, which doesn’t sound at all like me 😉

I prefer baths as much as possible. Soaking achy joints and muscles is sooo nice.

Clean sheets ARE the cat’s meow. Also, I think that climbing in the back seat in the car wash thing is literary license. Either that or I know only very boring people.

I try to wash my hair infrequently, but my tendency to run my hands through it causes issues. However, if I wear it in a messy bun (which if we’re being honest is 97…maybe 99% of the time) you can’t tell so I go more days without washing. I bought some shampoo bars to try to move away from plastic, but I haven’t tried them out yet.
