The boy one moved out and into his apartment, with lower rent than he was told, with a fireplace that wasn’t in the unit he toured, and with two outdoor chairs left by the last tenants. Quite nice.
As for us, we’ve put our house back in order. I have always taken pleasure in clear surfaces, but oh my goodness, it’s even better than I remember. We sit at our dining room table with delight. We enjoy open doors and pantslessness. Our dog has stopped stress-chewing her paw. Everyone has an agreeable shower schedule. It’s a grand time for the Motterns in their yellow bungalow. The yellow bungalow is not situated on Easy Street, but it is shaded by pretty trees and filled with love. Right now, it sounds like football and smells like banana bread.
My sense of structure was dramatically displaced. It’s humbling to be reminded our behavior is so incredibly predictable. It’s how we accidentally train our dogs, or you know, how our dogs train us. I forget how long it takes to form a new habit, and I sure don’t know how long it takes to return to old ones, but I’m trying, so it might be the same timeline.
I have gobs of stories to tell you. My go-with-the-flow may be runnin low but I’ve still got my bounce!
Yay you and the boy one! I am jelly over the fireplace. Wish we had one here.

Wish we had one, too! We think maybe when the house empties, we may get a wood stove or a pellet burner or some such warm, cozy thing 🙂

I like how you describe your house and your family life. I will avoid describing mine as it was a long day in which little was accomplished. And the boy won’t fall asleep!

A new habit takes about 3 weeks to get involved into for serious 🙂

Finally! Don’t go making any important decisions until you’re all acclimated again. They will be wrong.

I feel that with the depth of eternal truth. I know you’re right.

Well kiddo as long as you have your bounce anything is possible. One old guy I know once told me that if you can something every day for a week then it becomes a habit. Not sure about that but I guess it’s a place to start.

Someone else said three weeks. I don’t want to Google it. Too much pressure! 😛

Ah, the freedom to go pantless. It’s always the little things you miss… no?

Seems like August and September are a busy time for getting things in order. Perhaps a moon thing. Happy to hear about the pantslessness. I’m in touch with that as we have house guests for just a few days and my world is UPSIDEDOWN in its wrongness and pants being required and all.
Happy little yellow house!

Oh dread. It’s so nice to see the people, just not as nice to share space 😉

Sounds like all is going well in the yellow bungalow that smells of banana bread! (sounds like the title of a children’s book!)

Congrats to everyone. I’m sure he’s happy with his new digs, and you’re happy to not have someone camping out in your house even though he is the first of your beloved children. Yes, we certainly have our routines, and it just feels strange to have them interrupted especially those of us with just a smidge of OCD. You knew I’d understand. 🙂

A yellow bungalow shaded with trees sounds like home to me, though there’s more scifi than here football and the banana bread smell will come in a few weeks. Dogs love routine. One of many reasons to love dogs.

I’m glad boy one had delightful surprises with his move. And happy that you have your space back! My boy two will be moving back at the end of the month, although I think he does not plan to stay for long. I am happy that he is coming back and hope he plans to stay in the same city for a while. I miss his face. But it did push up the timeline for the repainting and reflooring that was happening in the basement. lol. Oh my!

Oh my indeed! I hope his stay is just right for you all 🙂 I thought Bubba would stay 3-6 weeks, not 3 months. We had him to dinner Sunday and that was NICE.
