#ThursdayDoors — Indoors

As I read on Twitter, “Outside is lava.”

Day five of being sick during a pandemic:

Stories of those who have recovered from the pandemic do not present consistent symptoms. Nope. No consistency. Truly. The nurse told me to call back if my symptoms change or worsen, and they have not. Whether it’s a cold or a flu or the plague, my relief that I’m getting better is equal to my alarm in still being down day five and equal to my hope that I don’t take a turn for the worse.

While I have anxiety disorder, many who don’t express fear and anxiety on par with my own. This is surreal and I know I’m not alone in struggling to grasp the magnitude of loss. I’m not alone in my rage. I’m not alone in my horror. You wanna talk about a time when it’s hard maintain an attitude of gratitude? Worry is much, much easier.

Overall, I am fortunate – today – right now.

My family is healthy and I am grateful.

Thankfully, my husband is stateside and housebound. I am glad he is currently earning income.

I am glad my children are the age they are.  I wish I could reassure them, but I don’t have to lie to them.

Our pets are very very happy. Catticus has basically lived on this bed with me. For five days.

I’m grateful I have enough food. And tea.

I’ve realized that with a bit of furniture rearrangement, I could create my own work station at home. I hope that when I have the energy to do so, I’ll still have a job.

Despite circumstances, I have developed a sincere intellectual crush on Governor Cuomo. Whatta man.

Thankful for technology that allows THIS and all versions of this. Maybe it took me all day to do this, in shifts, but I brought a door!

Joey–even in sickness you are awesome. The Cuomo brothers–best comedy team during a crisis every. I’m crushing on both of them. I am thankful that you are thankful. The door, the entire photo–amazing. John Rich–no idea what kind of mechanical things you are running, but that is one helluva lot of electricity you got going there. Take care, Joey. I hope you feel better soon.

Catticus is a cutie. Your oranges may be Cuties as well, come to think of it. I’m hoping that you’ll back in the pink of things soon. Like the blue door. It’s a pretty color. [Think of this as a colorful comment.]

Oh dear. I suffer from panic attacks and so I know the hopeless feeling. The consistent thing I’ve heard about the virus is dizziness and difficulty breathing. Thank god your family is altogether. Take care❤️

I’ve been wondering about rearranging the furniture here as well. Maybe just fix the front room windows which I’m pretty sure were put on backwards the last time we (my husband) cleaned them. Hoping you are feeling better soon. We all have things we could be grateful for if we stop and think a minute. We have time to do that now.

Depression, Despair, Confusion, and Paranoia are symptoms that go along with this virus. I was afraid for 3 or 4 days, but it’s got better. Mind you day 7 and I’m still totally exhausted ❤

Sorry you’re still feeling poorly… but thankful you’re not showing the far worse symptoms. And btw? Catticus is a stellar cat name!

Perfect door! I hope you continue to feel better until you’re back on you feet. I think you did a pretty good job on the gratitude thing. Take care and take care of that cat (and family)

  10. Sorry you are going through this. Don’t want to hear about you or anyone else feeling poorly. You were pretty grateful for a person, who perhaps has no reason to be.

    Please get well soon.

I hope your next post has words like better and improved, if not over it. I agree with liking the NY Gov. I have one of those I heart NY (no New Yorker would wear one) that I may wear around the house for a few days. 🙂

Gosh I hope you’re feeling better soon. Scary stuff! I ♥ me some Gov. Cuomo too. His practical, straight talk style is what we need during these unsettling times. Drink more tea and be well 🙂

Hang in there, Joey. Yes. Gov. Cuomo’s leadership has eased this New Yorker’s anxieties somewhat as I work from home and make the most of the distance.

Glad to see you joining us this week but sad/concerned about the circumstances that made it possible. I know you will, but please do take care of yourself. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the next time I read you there’ll be words like “feeling better”, “back to normal” and preferably soon, okay? 🙂

  20. Feel better soon. I get the anxiety! I felt like I was coming down with ‘something’ the other day and couldn’t help worrying about it, especially during the middle of the night.

Ironically, I have felt better most nights compared to days, but the anxiety never once improved my symptoms. I hope you fought off whatever was buggin you. I had felt like I was fighting something off for a few weeks.

I have never been more “out of control” — world, job situation, etc. — and yet I’m the most at peace I’ve ever been. If I find a way to bottle it, I’ll send you some. In the meantime, I’m sucking on some immunity boosters in hopes that osmosis will have their benefits going through the screen to help you feel better sooner. Some say virtual hugs help so here’s a ZILLION OF THEM, just for you.

That is a large cat paw, from that angle. All hail kitty!

I’m crushing on ANY governor who’s (a) handling this crisis for the crisis that it is and (b) speaks in complete sentences (c) while showing even a minute sliver of empathy. The bar is THAT low. Have you seen the videos of Andrew on Chris Cuomo’s CNN show and them arguing over who their mom likes better? Classic sibling crap. Hilare!

How wonderful, to have a husband, a cat, and oranges! I’m sorry you’re still sick, but glad you’re feeling better. I hug you so hard, I squeeze all the sick out of you. *UUUUHHHHHHH-UH!*

  23. My advice is to concentrate on yourself (love you some Joey <3) and those around you. The world outside will have to take care of itself, or not, but you can not worry about it now. Be happy that you are together. Create that working station for yourself. And get well.

I keep telling everyone in the house to eat some oranges! Keep the immune system supported! Wash your hands! There is definitely much to be grateful for. I’m glad that you are getting better. I am not a cat person, but Catticus looks awfully cuddly. 🙂
