I woke up kinda late this morning. My hair and I had a rough night because we dreamt of an invasion of tiny but electric-shooting-and-stinging cephalopods (why doesn’t Google know that word?) all over my house which caused me to wake at 4am, and I was so shaken from my nightmare, I had to go sit on my sofa and calm down after first ensuring the house was free from cephalopod invasion.
When I wandered out to the kitchen for coffee this morning, Sassy asked me if I would like eggs. She made me scrambled eggs and toast with butter and a big glass of orange juice.
I caught up on WordPress and pet my cat for a while before doing the things I had planned to do on this glorious day in February, as the sun was shining and temperatures would soar to a high of 55. 55! In February! It kinda freaks me out, but I ain’t complainin!
A week after this:
We had a real snowfall this month, round about nine inches. It was enough the bosses sent us home early and declared the next one a snow day. I spent the snow day playing in snow and shoveling snow. Our driveway is LONG. I thought I would never get that done. It is important to play before shoveling, because after shoveling, one is too tired to play.
Upon returning to work, I attempted to pull into our lot and got my lil SUV crossover vehicle stuck in the plow hump and had to be rescued by a Good Samaritan type. This was in keeping to how understaffed we’ve been and how overworked we are and I thought, stuck, spinnin my wheels, ah, what a metaphor!
Anyway, I had this list of chores and errands and I was determined to get things done this weekend. You know, during the heat wave and all. I knocked some of it out last night, left work, took Moo with me to the jeweler, the gas station, the grocery, then picked up Sassy and returned home to bake some mostaccioli.
Today I wanted to trim my hedges and clean up outside, because it was seriously startin to look like, well, I’d be embarrassed if y’all saw it. You’d think I was the Little Pig whose house was made of mud and sticks, okay? I asked The Mister to set up the power washer for me. Y’all, he power washed everything. Eventually, I realized he had no intention of my power washing anything. I said, “You don’t want me to do it, huh?”
He shook his head.
“It’s your toy, huh?”
He nodded.
This allowed me a considerable amount of porch-sittin time.
So pleased with my many accomplishments I was, I decided to go look at new plants. Cletus ate my money tree. I don’t know what that means in the feng shui sense, but it cannot be good.

As I explained to River, having lost a lovely mango bowl to Catticus’s dominance for window space, I yield to Cletus and Cletus has become a decor item.

Re: Favorites, according to previous posts some people thought the boy one was my husband – similar as they are, what with bein kin and all, they are actually two different people. See?
After buyin some plants and a new rake, Moo and I stopped for coffees.
When Moo and I returned, The Mister was still power washing! Moo said, “Daddy with his power washer is like a toddler with a popcorn popper.” So true. SO LOLZ
I had a nice lavender soak when I got home, put my jammies on, then I consumed a yummy turkey sammich on wheat, some chips, some strawberries, and a couple slices of horseradish cheddar. Got some laundry in. On a Saturday! Fanfuckingtastic day!
Tomorrow, bakin banana bread, makin chicken parm, and doin a lil beauty control, readin, watchin shows. It’s supposed to be 63! In February! When it’s 63, who cares if it rains? Not me, I love a good rainy day, especially a Sunday! Imma open the windows!

The only thing better than doing all your chores is having someone else do them. That’s a fine bunch of critters you have. We are in the 40s, which feels warm enough after weeks in the teens. Enjoy Sunday. The banana bread sound great.

Love it! So many animals. Handsome men you have there too. We had a warm one here today too but I did inside chores like laundry and cleaning the shower. I did walk Benny twice and only needed a sweater and a sweatshirt instead of a heavy coat. I live in California so anything under 65 is freezing to me – LOL. So nice to see you here!

You are a ball of energy. Being a native and lifelong Californian who has lived in the southern part of the state for about 40+ years I would be hibernating in those low temperatures. Hope the thermometer keeps going up where you are. The cats have the right idea, lounging.

I have started to feel more normal than I have in a long, long time, so I am pretty high on energy lately. We’re going to be highs in the 40s and 50s this week and lows in 20s, so that’s nice 🙂

Thank you, Judy! I hope your temps start climbing soon. We will have colder temps and more snow, probably for another 45 days or so, but then spring will set in 🙂

So much kitty goodness! All I could think of with the Cletus pic is that Dudley would take one look at those hanging plants and they would be hanging no longer. Cletus shows remarkable restraint.

Funny you mention that, because right after I snapped that pic, I wound the vines up again just in case! LOL I think he only leaves them because he has no place to lean while he bats and chews.

Nothing brightens a foggy morning more than a blog post full of furry faces 💕. Your happy is rubbing off on me even though we haven’t – and won’t – see temperatures anywhere close to 63F.
I’ve never heard of freezing fog before but apparently that’s our forecast this morning.

I hope you’ll enjoy those rare warm days sooner than later, even if, like here, it doesn’t last. I’d never seen freezing fog until Dan posted some pics of pine needles encased in it. If we have it here, no one has spoken to me about it. This year they began using the word “gaupel” right out of Jack London’s vocab for snow sleet. Whatever, new scary weather people. Whatever.

Pets are utterly beautimous! And it’s kinda bedazzling, how much The Mister and The Boy One look alike. Joey, I enjoyed walking through your day with you, but you said you were going to the jewelry store, and then you didn’t say what you did there, or saw there, or (better yet) bought there. You holdin’ out on us? I saw a mega-flock of sandhill cranes flying north yesterday, so I guess spring really is in the offing. Oh, well; I guess we HAVE to have spring and summer.

I bought the pressure washer for me to play with. Just like the chainsaw, riding lawn mower, and weed eater. I use them to do manly fings and stuff in the yard. Now I just need to get the parts I need to fix the riding mower so that once spring springs into action I can bounce around the yard on my riding mower. I need to add leaf blower to my fings and stuff to blow all the grass clippings back into the yard, as well as an edger for all along the driveway. The joys of spring and summer.

I forgot that I also want more hand tools and a gas powered weed eater for ease of use. That power cord is getting a bit old at this point. I want to cut down the things that we don’t want growing in our yard so that I can eventually replace the picket fence by the garage and on the side of the house. It is becoming an eye sore and a means for the dog to escape the back yard. Just need to decide what kind to get and install. This year I also want to start to burn all that wood or at least get it all hauled off.

I love every bit of this, Joey, thanks for sharin! I dreamt last night about teaching people to fly. Or actually, it was more about helping them realize they already had within them the ability to fly. It was pretty freaking amazing! What great temps you’re having there! Cletus as a home decor item…oh, how I love this! Stripped the bed yesterday–good-bye duvet; hello lightweight summer quilt. The humidity today is a balmy 99%. I’m dyin’. So great to see this, Joey.

I think our Sub, sub cold-ass freeze and all the power outages lasted for months, but I know it was only a few days. We lost every plant to the freeze. My bad.
The good part of that is buying new plants. This is Texas. It never gets that cold in this part. Until now. I think 2 days later it was 82. The dead plants did not resurrect. 🙂

I’m sorry about your plants. I added some aloe and replaced my money tree, but outdoors, only evergreens are green. I hope you chose some real winners to celebrate the end of hell freezing over.
The news from Texas was horrifying. I recall maybe 10 or so years ago (we still lived in Georgia) my friend in Ft Worth went through an ice storm — he took beautiful pictures of his windows, the trees, his car, all ensconced in ice — of course, at the time, he had power and water and HEAT. His only sense of danger was a slip and fall.

We lived in Base Housing when stationed in Fort Worth back in the day. Had many bad storms, but my kids loved building a snow man in the yard.
I am sure we will be buying plants soon.
My son and DIL suffered with no power for days. Only 30 minutes from us, but roads were too bad to drive. Anyway, nice Springy weather here now.

I really don’t know if Bubba’s ever used a power washer. He did have an agricultural type job for a few years and maybe did. Prolly The Mister wouldn’t let him use ours, but he’ll be housesitting later this month and no one would be here to stop him…

We got lucky with our one big snow. The hubby was shoveling off the front porch and a neighbor with a plow on the front of his UTV asked if we’d like him to clear the driveway. Saved us hours of manual labor. lol. The weather this year has been kinda crazy. Just sat out in 30 degrees for a soccer game this morning and had some days where it was close to 70 last week! But today is the first day of spring!! And buds are beginning to bloom!! Yay! 🙂
