Or as I say in real life, “Tea is liiiiiiiiife!”
I’m sick. Well of course I am.
The runny nose started Saturday night. I am a fairly snotty person and I attributed this to allergies. Overnight Saturday, my throat hurt badly enough to wake me from sleep several times. Sunday morning I lay in my bed trying to swallow the pain away, all the while noticing pressure in my ears — not quite an earache, more discomfort than pain. When I did rise, I had a terrible time moving because of body aches, and quickly noted a headache and swollen glands as well.
I took Lysine, because swollen glands for me usually mean a lip explosion is coming, and my body does that every spring.
I have been resting and sleeping. I do not have much coughing at all, nor do I have a fever. (Lingering just under or at 100.) For these reasons, I’m not worthy of a test. It doesn’t matter, as my family is certain this is not the plague and they are all FINE.
Statistics suggest I have a cold. Statistics also indicate a large number of infected persons are asymptomatic. Unfortunately, I took statistics and I have anxiety disorder, so this is just a real fun time for me.
Every time I drink tea, I feel better. I mean literally, I feel better. Every sip elicits “Ahh!” I have been consuming large quantities of herbal tea, and this morning I had some of the New Zealand Twinings with orange blossom. I feel better when I eat Dreamsicles, too, but that’s not new. Let’s heat up the kettle again, shall we?
We’re low on honey, so I got on Amazon to order some last night but it’s out of stock. You just know some greedy fucker is holed-up with cases of honey that will crystallize BUT WHATEVER!
I am still sick. However, I have experienced a significant decrease in my discomfort thanks to tea and rest.
Netflix released a show about Madam CJ Walker. It’s quite good. I watched more than I slept through.
Also, Saturday, I logged back into Twitter for the first time in 15 months and I was surprised to discover some of you have been sharing my blog links even in my absence. That’s so kind. Thank you!
Oh, Joey….not what I wanted nor expected to hear from any of my blog buddies. My son sneezed at work last week and was sent home. He has allergies. Tea is great, but I hope you feel better. Or get tested, whichever needs to happen quicker. But mostly, get to feeling better. Damn the honey hoarders!!!

Thank you, Lois. I called my dr and am not qualified for testing. Just a wait and see, hope I get better, report worsening or change in symptoms. Damn all the hoarders!

Hope you feel better soon! Tea is wonderful and I’m thinking of ordering more. If you like lemon, Tazo has a Lemon Loaf that is delicious!

I had to laugh about the statistics and anxiety line, that’s pretty funny, albeit I am sorry that your physical and stress levels are not well. Tea is amazing. I know I usually talk about beer, which is good, but I have tea every night and it’s good.
Take care. I hope you feel better very soon.

Thank you. Humor is important when you’re physically unwell and anxious during a plague.
Tea time is so cozy.

Thanks. I have eaten ACTUAL orange slices instead of candied and trust me, plenty of tea. Tea in, tea out, keeps me getting up, but very good for Joeys.

Reach out to local beekeepers if you can. The local stuff would help your allergies more. I hope you feel better soon! It is so not a good time for people like us to get sick.

Thank you. The honey I would order IS local, and would come via Fresh, but there is NONE. And then, looking at all the other honey on Amazon, it’s all gone. The Mister is going to be out today and will see if he can’t find some.

I don’t like reading this but I’m sure you don’t like dealing with it more than I don’t like reading this. Honey is out of stock? That sucks.

Stay home, get better, and, yes, may every one of those hoarders be stuck with whatever they tried to take advantage of us with. I heard yesterday they are gouging the price of 1/4″ elastic because that is what people are using to make masks. Insert bad words here. 🙂 Back in December, my husband and I were out grabbing a burger at a local joint. He has allergies year round and has these sneezing jags. He always covers his mouth, but he can’t stop the string of sneezes that happen. He had one in the restaurant, and a woman stared daggers at him until I’d had enough, smiled, and said, he’s not sick just dealing with allergies. I can only imagine what would happen if we went out today and he had one of those sneezing jags. They’d probably call 911. 🙂

I am definitely staying in bed, trying to get well. I understand, because it’s allergy time. I would walk away from anyone sneezing or coughing. My allergies may be playing into how I feel, although I’m taking my meds. Body aches and swollen glands, tho. Scares me.

Yes, this virus outbreak occurring during a time when many of us suffer seasonal health woes that carry similar symptoms does not help the individual nor widespread mood.

Get plenty of rest, Joey. Whether it’s allergies, flu, a cold, or COVID, the treatment is pretty much the same. If you’re still breathing, it’s probably not COVID, but regardless, most people do survive it (so I keep telling myself). My husband is like you – worries about everything. It doesn’t help that he still has to go to work since his company is “essential” (pharmaceutical lab). He’s terrified he’ll get exposed to COVID through one of his co-workers and bring it home to me. I just tell him there’s nothing we can do about it other than what we’re already doing (I haven’t been out of the house in more than a week). Meanwhile, I try to do some comfort baking for him; that seems to help (nothing like a nice piece of homemade coffee cake!). Keep posting, so we all know everything’s still ok.

Yes, you take immune suppressor, right? Bless you both. I understand both your worries. I also understand the comfort of baking ❤
I would like to read more stories about the recovered people!!!
I'm definitely staying home, because that's where my bed is.

Oh honey…
Mitchell and I had colds that came with a flu-like quality 6 weeks ago…
Scared me when this thing started. You bet I am scared shitless half the time. I do think you have a cold but watch it. Also, Take a deep breath in a couple times a day — If you feel clear then you are okay. If you feel wet rumbly… then call that doc back.
See if you can get your hands on some Manuka Honey — amazing from AU. Here is a link and they look like they have it. https://www.vitacost.com/productsearch.aspx?ss=1&t=manuka

The Mister is out foraging for honey, but I do appreciate your recommendation, as I’ve seen that honey and always wondered! We tend to buy local since we all have allergies, but I will definitely try the Manuka when life is not like this. Thanks so much!

If you can taste and smell your lovely tea, it’s not it. I had a cold recently too. It’s anxietic as hell comparing symptoms. But yes, drink tea. Relax. You know you get like this every year. It will pass. ❤

YES? Really? Truly? Would you wager on it? I so badly want you to be right! I can smell and taste everything!
I do not get like this every year, I do get a fever and a cold sore every spring (or at least the threat thereof). This is the sickest I’ve been since strep and that was more than 10 years ago.

I would wager! Also – snot means it’s not it! And your throat should feel like a beach, full of sand. And it doesn’t, does it? Huuuugs. Get well!

Thanks for the heads up on Madam CJ Walker. I was thinking of watching that series. Hope you are feeling better soon, Joey!! Being sick is just no fun, no fun at all. As for the hoarders …. I have NO thing good to say about them. They should all be rounded up and sent to jail. IMO! So much lately I am unable to get due to the effing hoarders. Not going there. I’m done. Just so done with this stupid crazy world. Like I said … hope you are feeling better soon! xoxoxo

Keep resting and watching things you like. They make so many different herbal teas, like with echinacea. I think I get a placebo effect going on. Whatever it is making you feel yucky, you will heal from it. You are STRONG. But you still gotta keep resting and let your body heal. I’m sending healing energy and good vibes. ❤

Thank you. Thanks so much, JoAnna. Your comment is just what I wanted to read. The Mister went out for more herbal tea and honey today. No honey. A lot of my favorite teas were gone, so I’m trying a Tazo orange tonight and another Tazo turmeric tomorrow. I am definitely resting. I didn’t watch anything today but I got online when I was awake, and I think I was more awake today than yesterday. I’ll put that in a plus category. ❤️

I’m not currently feeling sick, but reading this made me want to lie in bed and read or binge-watch something. I sounds nice, but not so much the effects and affects.
And the tea. With honey. Maybe a wee bit of adultness included. My mother-in-law would say ‘hot tottie’.
Spring is when I get sick. It happened one winter too, but lasted till Spring and concluded with 6 weeks of shingles due to depleted immune system.
Last year, I am sure I had flu, but never went to test.
Hunker down, take care, and tea up. We all need some joeyness now and then.

I’m sorry to hear that you are sick, Joey. I hope that you are feeling better! My allergies have kicked in and it’s a good thing I don’t leave the house because I think everybody would be afraid to get near me. It never occurred to me that honey might disappear from the shelves and that’s not something I keep a lot of since… crystallization.
