One of the many things I love about my house is that it’s a bungalow. Even our tiny first apartment was on the second floor.
First things first, it’s awfully nice not to tote laundry baskets up and down the stairs.
My bedroom being on the first and only floor is a great blessing. In the summer, my view is a series of hibiscus, in various shades of blooming pinks, and a bit of fence. No matter the season, from my bed, I see the tops of trees.
Sometimes the moon appears. She’s merely a white light in my sheers, but she captivates me. I know she’s inconsistent, with her comings and goings from my window frame, but still she comforts me. As I lie prone, I watch her watching over me, and I can’t help but think how kind.

I was going to say… how did you get such a gorgeous picture of the moon? Every time I try to take one it comes out a pin point in the middle of a vast black. 😛
I have what used to be a bungalow… but someone built three bedrooms and a half bath in the attic… and the laundry is in the basement. So you could say I have a three story bungalow with six bedrooms.

Last winter, I tried like mad to take a photo of the crescent moon and Venus, which hung low over my pergola every night for 3-4 nights in various stages. It was stunning, I swear. Never could get a decent photo!
You know, I don’t know when your house was built, but before 1920, most family homes began as cottages and bungalows and were added onto as the income and families expanded. I’m intrigued by attics. Wouldn’t mind to have one, since I’ve never had a usable one.

This place was built in ’48 I think. I’d never had a liveable attic either, until I bought this place four years ago. It’s kinda nice… the sound of the rain at night just inches overhead is very soothing. Kinda like camping without worrying about swimming by morning. The squirrels on the other hand… Haha.

First floor living has infinite benefits. Particularly when you have knees that don’t like stairs! lol
