Back at the Old Northside, where older homes are frequently restored or revamped, I came across this work in progress:
When I first saw these doors, I thought, aha! these people have purchased beautiful new doors!
*whispers* I’m astounded by how many spectacular homes have front doors as dull as the one on my own run-of-the-mill house. Why would anyone take the time, spend the money, endure the headache of rehabbing a home and then just stick some sad, tiresome pre-fab door on it?
Anyway, upon closer inspection of this soon-to-be painted home, the doors appear to be old. Seems like the bottoms have seen better days, don’tcha think?
Either way, I love them! Just look at that doorknob! I can’t wait to see what this old beauty looks like when she’s all made up!
*whispers again* I hope they paint that porch ceiling light blue, don’t you?

I really look forward to Thursdays now. Shows how exciting my life is. I am fascinated as much by the casement and jamb as I am at the door. Your doors are indeed great. I think the knob sells it.

Right? I love Thursdays and get excited about the door posts, too. Do you go check out the others? It’s quite an assortment, never the same thing twice.

Yeah I got to that. I also got a bunch of pics by just doing a Google search for #thursdaydoor. I was trying to find out the what doors I have already posted. Wouldn’t want to post one twice. That might make me appear forgetful.

These are beautiful. I certainly hope that they are planning to carefully rehab them. A little TLC and not a cover-up. Great choice for today.

I’m really digging the way the “not so new” doors stand out against the aging faded house. 🙂 Really stirs and inspires the imagination, I can see how it drew you in as well!

Nice find – those are truly gorgeous. The knob & escutcheon are very nice but that glass!
I just love it when folks are able to repurpose old architectural elements into their reno’s.

I love the contrast of the doors and the house. I wonder if the doors would still look as beautiful once the rest of the house is painted or if they wouldn’t be as noticeable. Loved your Life Enthusiast post so had to stop by to say hello!

Nice doors and can only imagine how handsome they’ll be when they get painted. The glass is gorgeous and speaks of another day and time. 🙂 Yes to the blue porch ceiling too.

Although there are lots of beautiful doors near us, most of them are on very expensive homes. Most of us, although we might like a beautiful door, have other things on which to spend our money (college, for instance), and since we live in a rental home, I’m not giving them an expensive door. Maybe some day. I do love seeing older homes rehabbed. I bet this one will be a beauty.

I have a sad, tiresome pre-fab door, but I also don’t live in a spectacular house. Seems like a waste to put an average door on a spectacular house, don’tcha think?

I think it would make the house look even shabbier.

Joey, honestly I would strip this double door and stain them. I would give it a matte finish varnish or finishing coat. I love ♡ this door, Joey!
This was an amazing find! 🙂
I think the light blue porch ceiling sounds perfect, by the way!

Nothing like original doors! They just don’t “make ’em like they used to!” Also love light blue porch ceilings – “Haint Blue” as the Southerners say! Keeps those spirits away!

Given your title, have you checked out the other doors in the series?

I had the perfect picture for you in Door County, Wisconsin but traveling sixty miles an hour didn’t help the “quality” of the picture so I had to chuck it.
