Colored lights or white lights? Nancy prompts.
Matter of personal preference, isn’t it?
I might would add colored lights if they were bubble lights!
I’m a white light person, because I love white.
This year, some of my LED lights died tragically from lyin about in a box all year. I had to buy some new LED lights, and well, they are not the same color white. I had warm white and I bought cool white.
But I tell ya, I’m not unhappy, cause guess what? Looks like silver and gold!
Now I shall endeavor to maintain the warm and cool contrast.
Silver and gold….now I have that Burl Ives song from Rudolph going around in my head. 🎅

Silver and gold is ver pretty. My tree is silver and black, but I have coloured lights on it! I am a very contrary person I think. As long as it sparkles and looks pretty then I don’t mind what colour the lights are 🙂

I like colored lights on the tree. I’d be ok with all white outside. I have soft led white lights on out little tree outside. Your tree is beautiful.

Thanks! I feel like the colored lights have to be carefully placed to look good, especially outside. I’m sure your lights look great! Given your post yesterday, I wouldn’t wanna bring up the OCD of outdoor lights for you, but I am afflicted.

It’s ok. I loved my dad. He just could drive you crazy but his lights did look good (and were properly placed). He was even known to swap bulbs to get the right color combo in the right place.

Truly, he always sounds admirable, Dan 🙂

I like both. The cats prefer all white. When I was a kid our trees has those huge tear drop multi-colored lights. When I got grown up I tried to replicate them for my kid’s trees. Suckers cost a small fortune. Do you recall the all metal trees with the flood light that change colors so that your tree was one huge shade of red or blue or whatever?

I have seen a handful of those as well as a few fiber optic trees, but they’re old memories. I know what you mean about the fat colored lights $$$ right up there with the $$$ bubble lights — Like $15 for 7 bulbs!!! If I were inclined to invest, not only would I buy the old-fashioned fat colored lights, but I’d pay someone to hang them all over the outside of my house!!!

You have a beautiful tree, Joey. I like the silver and gold theme.

Thanks! It only looks that way because of the lights, haha! There are blues and reds and pinks and yellows and pine cones 🙂 Those mixed up lights are my friends!

I like colored. Reminds of the trees in Charlie Brown and Grinch.

I have almost always had colored lights, Joey. I liked my Mom having two trees. A nice white flocked tree with her favorites of pink, gold and spring green ornaments with white lights in a Victorian living room. She and Dad would take us to a tree farm to pick a live, balled base tree to plant after the holidays. This one got the strings of popcorn, cranberries and colorful lights and ornaments. I am like you, sad my parents were not able to save the “fancy” ornaments from my grandparents. They got really damaged in their damp basement. 😦
When I was able with my last 13 year long marriage, upstairs in our great room, we had a more “formal” tree with pretty, glittery ornaments and white lights while in our finished basement with its memorabilia and gas fireplace, we had colored lights with felt, cloth and homemade ornaments. We lounged around in pajamas and opened presents down there. We were the “holiday destination” home; one way or another, from 1980 until 2006. Good memories but my grown children have been starting their own traditions. 🙂

I really miss having strings of popcorn, but the dog…
I’m sorry about your ornaments. That’s so unfortunate. Mine were lost in a move. Tragic stuff.
Sounds like having extra trees is every bit as lovely as I imagine!

I used to love white and now I love ivory, but I still like colored lights a lot because they are so special.

I find myself leaning a lot toward ivory at home. I still look better in white.

I went through a period where I wore all white because I apparently thought I was Emily Dickinson. Or a ghost.
