What’s your most memorable (good or bad) airplane flight?
I remember flying first class to Dallas where I sat next to a most polite gentleman with such a kindly manner. When we landed, he asked me, Miss, to hold his cowboy hat while he retrieved our carry-ons. Then he stepped out into the aisle to block it, letting me out in front of him. He carried my bag until we exited the plane.

How many bones, if any, have you broken?
I’ve only broken twinkle toes.

If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? (guest can be dead, alive, famous or someone you just know)
Toni Morrison, Fran Lebowitz, Gertrude Stein

I must admit, my first thought was a panel of deities, because that could help sort some shit out for people, but older women, and of course, dead women, know more than most.

Make a Currently List: What are you reading, watching, listening to, eating, needing, wanting, and missing right now?
It’s quiet in The Quiet Room, so I can hear the ticking of the clock and the air whooshing through the vents.

I am watching my trees.

In a bit, I’m going to make myself a roasted red pepper sammich on sourdough.

Later, I may watch the third part of Roots.

I haven’t cracked a book since my alumni magazine arrived.

I don’t need anything, at least not urgently.

I want a pedicure, someone else to go to the store, and some new shoes.

I am missing my bed already, and the man who left it before I woke.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up? For last week I am most grateful for my loving, supportive husband, air-conditioning, Bing cherries, and for our new insurance(s). Insurance is the devil, but these devils aren’t as evil as most we’ve had.

  1. yeah, insurance is expensive, but try to pay for necessities when you don’t have it

What a kind man you had for a seatmate. I’m always surprised that some women seem surprised when I offer to get their bags down. I’m pretty tall, and it’s not a bother, and I’d hate to see someone get hurt struggling with something I could easily do for them. I’m not a big fan of roasted reds, but my wife is. She would fight you for that sammich 🙂

I think the first three guests on your talk show could set the world straight in no time. And then, if you could get a few deities to show up, you could keep the world on the path to goodness for a long time to come. I’m looking forward to your show. Will it be on cable?

Thank you so much! I fear it would be on cable, on accounta all the swearing, but perhaps if I had such a talk show, with deities and dead women, I could get PBS to let the language slide?

  6. Great answers! My most memorable flight was from Honolulu to New York with a short stopover in LA. I spent the entire flight convinced the planes were going to crash because there was so much turbulence. Never broken a bone…

I never mind turbulence, but I hate flying on big planes. I always feel like I can’t breathe! I’m so glad your return trip was a safe one 🙂

Would like some advice from your panel of old, departed and deified women. They rock.

I almost bought a new pair of shoes today. I was >this< close. Thankfully, Imelda came to her senses and left the store empty-handed.

Haha, I got me a lil Kohl’s cash…I’m trying to resist until after the girls have all their school things…Make do with the summer shoes I already have…I dunno, we’ll see 🙂

  10. Wise, dead women…wonderful choices. I’ve broken lots of stuff…from below the hips. Knee, ankle, foot, toe, even had me a “groin injury”…that was the worst of all. ☺ Fun post.

What a sweet thing to say about your husband unless of course you meant the UPS driver. What do you think about Roots?

I’ve never flown anywhere, but then, as I work in the aerospace industry, I know exactly why that’s a good idea…

  14. Benson says:

I must say my first flight in 1968 to Virginia. A jet to D.C. and then a big prop plane to Hampton. The plane did a big bank over the Chesapeake Bay. A glorious sight. Never knew there was so much water.

Liked your answers. I’m not sure I could narrow it down to only three guests though.
Nice to see chivalry is still alive and appreciated.
