I spent the week shopping. Please remember I hate shopping. Shopping on weekends is the worst. There are so many people out there. So I did it on the weekdays. Cause I was livin like Old Mother Hubbard.
I made lists, one for the big store Tuesday, one for the shop Wednesday, one for the small store Thursday, and one for online store yesterday. I did this because I love myself and I have an extraordinarily full schedule next week, and if I had to shop on top of all that, I might would DIE.
Then, because I want to enjoy this weekend in a very my-sofa-needs me, my-husband-is-on-break, let’s-bake-another-carrot-cake kinda way, we went shoe shopping last night to cross it off the agenda. We bought all the new shoes. I love my new shoeses, but I am in no hurry to wear them.
Came home, cooked breakfast for dinner. Oh yes. Scrambled eggs, ham, blueberries, pineapple and toasts — and would you believe, after all that shopping, we are almost out of strawberry preserves?!? Well, I laid claim to the rest of that jar!
HEAR YE, HEAR YE, the rest of the strawberry preserves are belong to me!
This weekend is short on strawberry preserves and long on time.
And I am short.
And short-tempered.
And I don’t wear shorts.
Anyway, I gotta go.

You’re a smart shopper, Joey. I had to visit the mega grocery store this afternoon with the other million people that were there. Thankfully, the lines at the self-checkouts were short or non-existent.
Two thumbs up for buying new shoes. You can never have too many shoes.

No, I can never have too many shoes! 😀
I’m glad your trip to shop wasn’t miserable and long-lined!

It is.
It’s too hard to find yummy jam things without a buncha weird, unnecessary crap in it.

Looks like you cleared the decks for a good weekend. I love having breakfast for dinner. I had ham and scrambled eggs on Thursday. We do not shop on weekends. I think we’d rather starve.

Haha! I second that ‘rather starve’ comment!

Yes, *looks at nephew wearing them now* (is 34)
I’ll wear skirts, no shorts.

Yes Yes Yes – planning makes for more play and relaxing time! I’ve been experimenting with doing some, only the basics that is, housework on week nights for the same reason. When not on call and have a whole weekend off, don’t want housework to be any part of it.

I think that’s the smartest way to go about it, Susan. It’s like being a smart eater all week and then eating a rich meal on the weekend — makes the weekends more celebratory!

I have too many shoes. The ones I can wear now are ugly. I keep them around because I’m not ready to give up the possibility things might change. They don’t get out of the drawer much.

Aw, yeah, I know several people who feel the same. I’ve one girlfriend who in the care of her feet, basically wears one pair of shoes all year. Then if an event comes up, she suffers the pain and glory of wearing something more chic for an evening. Sad stuff.

I groc that. I wore long black silky pants for my son’s wedding partly to hide those shoes!

Right? It was all worth getting it done during the week. Sofa and I have had plenty of quality time this weekend 🙂

You could probably buy Strawberry Preserves online 🙂

I can, but that brand is almost twice as much at Amazon, and the direct sales don’t have free shipping.

I love shopping for food, and I hate shopping for clothes. Shoes are the worst. I like to wear them, but I don’t like to shop for them. Not in company. I don’t mind, if I’m by myself, so I can look and look and look and look and look and look until I find the pair that is whispering my name.

Yesss, I understand that shoe whispering thing. It takes The Mister even longer than I do to find shoes, so I have that goin for me.
I wish I loved shopping for food.

That’s a good jam brand. I try never, ever to shop on the weekends if at possible! On Friday, I branched out beyond food shopping and went to my favorite women’s thrift store. I was rewarded with some great finds, almost all of which were on sale. Hurrah! I also did some shoe shopping, getting a new pair of Topsiders at DSW, but with two coupons. 🙂

Yes, it was either shop all day on the weekend, or stop once a day all week. I know I made the right decision!

You know what? I hate shopping too, even clothes shopping. I think I must be missing some sort of female gene or something because every other woman I know loves it! I am so glad to meet another anti-shopper! Yay! I also dislike going to the hair dresser and I have never even thought about getting my nails done. Weird?

No.
I hate going to the salon for hairdids. MY GAWD are they chatty. I don’t mind nails, but I seldom do it, because let’s face it, short of spending an hour on the gel polish business, it doesn’t last.
I come from a long line of shopping haters, and I have two kids just like me 😉 We’re out here, you’re not alone.

That’s some serious organization! Maddest I get at the gardener is when I hear this: you were just at the store. How come we are out of almond butter/cream cheese/coffee?

Ugh, it’s so maddening. Already we’ve found out The Mister will need to stop later this week for dog food.
