Jot!Β

jjj-2018

It’s a special day for me/us, for it is the day I went with my bestie to a party, wherein I met my husband when I sat on his lap in the car — 31 years ago today. Aw.

But it’s a frickin Tuesday, so at 5:11am Tuesday called to let me know school is on a delay.

Remember that good sleep I wanted to have? Tuesday didn’t give a damn.
What sleep I did get was hard though, I can tell, because:
1) I fell asleep before The Mister.
2) I slept on the wrong pillow and although my neck is a bit stiff, that could be the FML tension that has been this morning.
3) I did not move, not even a little bit, until that call at 5:11.
4) When I woke up, my hair was undisturbed, like movie hair.

It’s not that I don’t understand the importance of delays, I do. It’s that it’s inconsistent. For instance, this delay is because it’s cold. It’s -3 and we’re gonna work our way to 13. Okay, and? It is January. We live in Indiana. This is not unusual at all.
If you’ve read me for years, then you know good and well I’VE STOOD AT THE BUS STOP WITH MY KIDS IN TEMPS AS LOW AS -20. Where were our delays on those days? Pfffft. Pshaw. Pthbbbbt! Whatever!

At work, I don’t have a job, or position, per se, where I can be late, *holds down fort* and so I have back-up plans for this sorta thing, and back-up plans in case my back-up plans fall through. Well no luck today. Thanks, Tuesday.

Moving on now. I am. Isn’t it nice I don’t have time to write in detail about this morning? Yes, much nice.

Leaving the house for the second time this morning — I’ll take the mulligan and begin again.

The day can only get better! Right? After all, it’s the anniversary of a happy occasion, and if all else fails, look on the bright side …. you’re not living in Georgia anymore πŸ˜‰

  3. Some days you just have to take the mulligan. Great term, and hope your day improves.

  4. Had a vague idea what ‘taking a mulligan’ meant, lurking somewhere in the cavernous recesses of what I call my mind, so it wasn’t a big surprise. My dad would have known – he was a golfer.

Happy anniversary – and at least 31 more.

Yeah, I’m blaming this one on Monday. Monday used the cover of darkness to crap snow all over Tuesday AND the landscape, including the roads. We can’t get our car up the slope from our basement to our driveway because: freezing rain under snow equals no going up that slope. Bleh.

As someone cleverly says above, happy lap-o-versary!

I lived in Vermont on and off for maybe 30 years back when there was snow and seasons and people just dealt with it, and this year, living near Woodstock NY, is the first year I really understand the phrase about ‘bone-chilling cold’. Our house is only 50+ years old–a mere baby!–and as I stand here in front of the computer indoors, with a pellet stove in the room and some little baseboard heat that we keep low or off depending, and hobo-type plastic sheeting over the windows and all, my arms especially feel cold right down to the bone, and I just get used to it.

I hope you get some sleep, some warmth, and some…er…lap. ahaha!

Since taking a mulligan is actually a thing, it must be okay. We have a sitting on the lap story too. I was dating my husband’s brother at the time and we were going to see a movie in my TR7 (no back seat). The brother drove and I sat on my “husband’s” lap. I was afraid I was putting his legs to sleep. He was afraid I would notice something else was waking up…I didn’t but it is one of his favorite stories to tell. We are at 33 years (35 since the lap incident). Hope the rest of Tuesday settles down for you.

Hope the terrible Tuesday got all sorted out. Seems like the days just drag around here, and the nights go by in seconds. Movie star hair when you wake up, now that’s the way to start the day. πŸ™‚

Well, boo for Tuesday. I’ll be cheering for Wednesday, as long as Indiana doesn’t shut down the state because it’s cold in January. :-p

We got a couple inches of snow this week (praise the lord) and the school district Facebook page was in a frenzy debating whether to do a delay the next day (after the first two snow days). They promised to let everyone know by 5:30PM and people were complaining about them waiting too long. They’d die if they had to wait until 5:15AM!

      I hope y’all enjoyed the snows! πŸ˜€
When you consider some people (my mr) have to be at work ungodly early, it’s never early enough. Finding arrangements for kids and all that. I find canceled is better than delayed, and I don’t even go in ungodly early!

I am late for a Tuesday post – but had to leave a note because your point about “movie hair” was actually on my mind this week.
We are watching the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and in the show – twice they showed a lady going to bed and then after her spouse slept – she got up and put the hair in curlers and put cold creme on the face – and then took it off in the morning – guess it was alluding to the 1950s and how “some” ladies” kept movie hair for their spouses to see – ????
Anyhow, have you heard of the show? it is really good –
and funny – we actually got to watch another episode because of a snow delay – but at least we knew the night before about the delay – that helped

Ooh, I found this in my spam. :/
I am very glad my husband likes my misbehaving hair. I could never keep up the appearance of tidy hairs. lol
