Some doors are just nice, aren’t they? Maybe they’re not antique-old or jaw-dropping fancy or one-of-a-kind special, but they’re simply perfect for their houses.
And well, some of them have these insanely gorgeous gates, and gates are kinda like doors…
Never mind the gates, do you have a favorite door here today?

The last door. I like the windows and the unique color. I also admire the little house over the entire door way. Add in the rather baroque quality of the gate and you have one top notch entry. One thing I don’t get is why the one light. It throws off my balance. Where’s the symmetry?

My favorite too. In this photo, I can see why it fools with your need for symmetry, but in person, I never even noticed. Now that you mention it, it seems a light would be even more useful on the left, because there are mailboxes… Who wants to deal with keys and mail in the dark? Good point. Great door, though. Man, I love that gate!

Never mind “never mind the gates” – that puppy is gorgeous! Some serious work went into that gate.
Oh yeah, some nice doors too 😉

Glad you feel the same 🙂

My favorite is 1451 door. Not very practical for the climate here so that is probably why I don’t see doors like this here. Perhaps this is why it caught my eye or just because it is gorgeous. Thanks, Joey! Have a great day! ❤

That’s my fave, too! 🙂 What region do you live in? Tell me how it’s impractical where you live?

I live in WNY and it is COLD here in winter. Unless there was a protective door in front of this door, then OK. But the cold winds that would come right through that door would make it very impracticable to have one on a house here. Those southerly winds are brutal here and the northeasters just as bad. With temps that see – degrees many times in our winters, brrrrrr. Now you know why. 🙂

Ah, yes. I couldn’t fathom 🙂 Now I do. The full glass doors here are only outer doors. Otherwise they have insulated doors, or even an insulated door and a vestibule (like the last door.)
Winters are crazy cold here in Indy, too — but not so much this last one
Happy Weekend Amy! 😀

Happy weekend to you, Joey. I’m still deciding on making today my last posting day until Monday. I’ll see how things go!!! 🙂

I like the ornamentation of shutters, sconces, ironwork–it’s like bling for a house. So, it isn’t really the door I like as much as the jewelry that sets it off.

I am often tempted by gates as well. I actually did it once, posted a gate instead of a door but gates are kind of doors, aren’t they?

They sorta are 🙂

I love the red door with the shadow of a tree across it – mostly because the sun is shining in that one. You can tell I’m in Ireland, can’t you. A glimpse of sunshine and I’m practically salivating.

Ooh! Well it’s a good day to be in Ireland, yeah? Thanks for your pick! 🙂

And the sun is shining. That means all those poor kids on the floats won’t be going home like drowned rats – which is what usually happens on Patrick’s Day in Ireland.

I love the first door with what I assume is a door knocker in the centre panel between the 2 windows, but the 2nd door gets top marks for its “complete package”. The gate definitely pushes it into the lead!!
My sister and I were recently having a conversation about this style of ‘full glass’ front door. She worried about privacy, but we both agreed it always makes a house look amazing.

Me too, it’s those details that really show it off, hm?
I love my glass storm door, as do my pets. But I really love having no windows at all in my proper door. I have privacy issues 😛 Paned glass is so stunning! Thanks for coming by!

I hear you about the privacy issues. I’m really uncomfortable about the thought of people peeping into my home … and yet I love bright, sunny rooms. Such conflict 😉

For me the answer is southern exposure and curtains 😛

Nice doors and my favorite is the white one second from the bottom. It stands out even with the storm door over it. 🙂

I like the black and white one on the upper left. I think it fits in so well with the other elements of that house. It looks like a very professional (in a no-nonsense way) entrance. I also like the door at 410. I like the gate too – gates are doors (well, I think so).

The last door is my favorite – because of the two colors and the glass, but the gate not so much:) And I see beautiful windows above the right top door! You’re soon going to run out of doors! Or are these big residential neighborhoods?

I love the wrought iron gate!

It’s a tie between the two doors that have more shelter ~ Living in the rainy Northwest tends to make me prefer a bit of shelter as part of the door/doorway….lovely doors, all, though!

I love the white 410 door. It totally fits with the brick building. I’m trying to find the word to describe it and all I can come up with is very white and clean.

It is that. Simple and fresh come to mind, too, but I’m all about white and clean 🙂

I like the last one best. The door plus the gate is a winning combination.

1,3, and 410 for me! Yes, some doors are just good looking, and others are boring. I had a pretty boring door for 30 years. I think I have one with some personality now. Nothing as nice as 1.3, or 410 though. 🙂

I like the red ones. For some reason I’m partial to red doors on houses.

I agree with you Joey, nice can be good especially when it has a lovely gate to go with it like 1451!

I love traditional homes and the one with the pretty bleached out bricks and grill work on the top left hand photo is my very favorite one! Smiles, Robin
p.s. hugs for the night, heading home to beef stew made by oldest daughter, library is busy anyway.

I was thinking of you while on vacation (that sounded way creepier than I meant it to sound) taking pictures of all these ancient and historic doors at the various places we visited!
