This morning began before five.
Moo knocked on the door and said she didn’t feel good.
I lifted my covers and invited her in for a cuddle.
She didn’t feel too warm.
I thought maybe she had a bad dream.
Her heart rate wasn’t too fast.
It felt too early to be awake and too late to go back to sleep.
Birds were singing.
I sent Moo back to her bed.
I tried to sleep more.
The Mister’s alarm went off.
The sheets were deliciously cold, how they are when you sleep with the windows open.
He came to kiss me goodbye, but didn’t turn on the light.
The faintest bit of dawn eked in.
I never fell back asleep, but I did lie there, enjoying the sheets.
Got some coffee.
Took Sassy to the bus stop.
Moo is still puny.
I took her a bucket, and some watered-down apple juice.
A storm has come in.
My mother sent me a text, “Batten down the hatches!” she wrote.
I’m a good kid. I shut the windows almost all the way.
Now I wonder if there will ever be a dawn today.
I think the sheets want me back.
They probably want to watch tv with Moo and me.
After I eat some breakfast.
Doesn’t toast with butter sound good?
Good morning to you too! Some days the sheets are calling us back more than others. right?

I hope Moo feels better. You both enjoy those sheets. I loved the way you wrote this, it was so poetic.

“Now I wonder if there will ever be a dawn today.” Love that! There can’t be anything more demanding today than cuddling with Moo, toast and butter. 🎀💓

I hope Moo is feeling better. Nothing like toast and butter on a dreary day.

can’t relate really. Get up at 5:30 every day. Sometimes more excited than others. Same general routine, except I’m doing no weekend cooking at All or at least i don’t plan to. You write so well. My blogs have never caught on. I think I must be too self-centered. See? I ended up making this about me…lol….You have become my guilty pleasure, but in truth there is no reason to be guilty about reading good writing.

Thank you. It must be so much more convenient to be a morning person! Gah, morning people!
Also, you own your day. All day. I do not. My days rotate around the needs of others, for the most part. It lessens as they grow up, of course, but it’s seven more years til my days belong to me again. I thought today would be about re-lining my kitchen drawers and hanging my pots and pans. Today really became about comforting Moo and cleaning up her incidents.
I cannot possibly be a guilty pleasure — unless you ashamed to read me!? lol

Hope Moo is feeling better by now! I think my sheets missed me today…I was sleeping so well when the alarm went off at 6, it was a shame to leave the sheets.

I want that poster for the wall at the foot of my bed. Yep! Then I could look up, read and retreat under the sheets.
