As a child, who was your favorite relative?
Ooh, that’s tricky. Maybe my mother’s mother. She had great authenticity and a love of adventure. She was so much fun. She was my playmate well into my 20’s.
If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?
I’d be an evergreen shade plant.
What would be your preference, awake before dawn or awake before noon?
Noon. I can’t even emphasize that enough. It’s 4am and I’m writing this because insomnia has come to call AGAIN. I don’t think I’m meant to be up with the sun. I’m much more likely to go down after sunrise. It’s utterly exhausting to be a night owl in a morning people world.
Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?
Human size nest in a tree would do just fine, so long as there are no mosquitoes.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Last week I was most grateful for my husband. This week I look forward to … hey, I don’t know, maybe naps.

I miss naps!

Up before dawn or up before noon..???
Shit, if Im up “before dawn” its because 3am ran up on me like, “WTF,” or because Im still up from the might before.
I always figured noon was somewhere between “Goddamnitt.” and “I HAVE THINGS TO DO, OKAY?”
Lol 😉

My interpretation of noon is VERY similar!

As a fellow insomnia-suffering human, I feel you! Your grandmother looks pretty and kind.

She was said to be a handsome woman, and she was indeed kind — thank you 🙂
I’m sorry you’re in the insomniac group.

I was wondering what was making my phone ding early this morning – “Joey like a comment” – What the heck is Joey doing up? I hope the insomnia is short-lived.

I slept from about 10:45-12:45 and then I fell back to sleep around 8m and got up at 1:30. I may live. lol

Insomnia is awful! I’m sorry you are dealing with it right now. I have been OK of late.

Thanks, Deb. I’m glad you’re sleeping well enough. It didn’t come about on its own last night — Moo and cats woke me too often.
Hopefully tonight will be better!

I had a couple rough nights over the holidays for some reason, but generally speaking I do OK. About 10 years ago I had a hideous bout of insomnia. I was literally the “Walking Dead”!!

I have the opposite body schedule…usually asleep by 10 pm. Up at 4 -5 am. I’ve always been a morning person….but I’d love to be able to sleep in, on occasion. sigh…

If I had my way, nothing would start prior to 10 AM. I am so sorry that you had insomnia. With any luck, you’ll wake up rested, enjoy the coffee, and the surprise on the counter that I left you. I found it extremely difficult to fall back to sleep when I went back to bed. My love to you

So with you on the night owl thing. My body does not understand going to bed at 10:30 and getting up at 6:00.

Next school year, we get to wake at 7 instead. I AM SO EXCITED! 😛

Your Gram does look like fun. I wake with the sun – in the summer, the birds chattering outside the window. In the winter I don’t get out of bed until the heater comes on! Bah humburg to insomnia! Not fun.

Agreed, I wake earlier in summer as well, but not usually early by normal standards 🙂

Oh Boy! More questions from the Jot It Squad. First question is a toughie for me. I didn’t have a lot of interaction with my relatives. I had some visits from my Great Aunt Louise and her husband Joe from Chicago. I remembered because he always gave us a silver dollar.
As for the time ? I have found that the older I get the less able I am to sleep or stay up late. I am usually good for waking up whenever the sun rises. Like a chicken. Oh give me the nest anytime. And with a good breeze you won’t have to worry about skeeters. Your Grams looks nice. I never knew mine too well at all.

Fun post! I would love to get up earlier but I don’t seem wired that way either.

I think I would choose the burrow because it has a steady temperature and I would be afraid of falling out of the tree in the middle of the night when I have to use the bathroom.

Naps are good. Especially the ones that last from oh… 9pm to 9am. 😉

I think you actually have to be under the age of 12 for one of those.

I think you’d make a great evergreen shade plant. Then the other you could take naps underneath the shade. Okay weird, but I really like the answers to your questions and the challenge sounds like fun.
