Here’s an Unrelated photo of my Ukulele, so you can all agree, I know at least two words that start with U.
Of course I can play it. Anyone can play the ukulele. Oh, like make music on it? Not so much, no. Chord strum, same chord strum, strum, strum, strum.
You know, most people think of the ukulele as a Hawaiian instrument, but it originated in Portugal. Mine’s a Portuguese baritone. Saucy.
When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?
Pen. Fat pens, good for my stupid, arthritic hands. I’ll show you my favorite pens, but don’t you dare try to use them. I’m pen-stingy.
The kitty pen is handmade by True and represents my beloved Felicity, RIP.
The blue pen is from my mother, and it’s my travel pen. It’s also a replacement pen because The Mister broke and fixed the first one right into ruin. I forgive him, but I just don’t like other people using my special pens. If we’re out somewhere, you need to have your own damn pen.
Like Cee, I also like Zebra SARASA pens.
I think the best pens are the ones drug reps give to doctors’ offices. For years, my travel pen was a VIOXX ad. I realize that’s funny ironic, but I’m just sayin, it was a nice thick pen, and while I don’t troll the hospital looking for fat pens, I’m not above asking the receptionist, “MayIkeepthispen? Thanks.”
What’s your choice: jigsaw, word, maze or numeric puzzles?
Crosswords! And yes, I do crosswords with a pen.
I like jigsaw and 3-D puzzles, but not near as much as crosswords. One of my favorite things to do is to sit at the table and work a crossword puzzle. Lil classical music, lil rain pattering from the open window, big ol cuppa coffee — That’s good stuff!
Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?
I prefer long hair. After the traumatically bad haircut of 2009, I have vowed never to have my hair cut above my shoulders ever again. Never ever.
List some of your favorite blogs.
I’m squirming, because I hate exclusion. I read tons of blogs in the course of a day.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
This last week I am most grateful for my husband. I’m also grateful for cooler days, a three-day weekend, the return of goat cheese & spinach pizza at Aldi, and new, better health insurance.
This week coming up doesn’t seem too busy. Moo has a performance on Saturday, but other than that, it should just be same ol same ol. Of course, I said that last week, and last week was filled with pleasant surprises, so you never can tell!

No, YOU have a goat cheese pizza problem!
Cee’s Share Your World is a weekly feature and all are invited to play along.
What’s going on in your world?
Lovely post- must try that pizza from Aldi!

I wouldn’t want to touch your pens. I’m famous for losing them – I can buy a pack of 20 ballpoints and they’ll all be gone within three days, never to be found again.
I lllllooooovvvve goat cheese on pizza!!!

mmmm – cheese, any cheese … what were we talking about again? ….
I like thin tipped pens – preferably in a variety of colours, but purple and green are favourites.
Puzzles? I’ve never been a fan … although I briefly had a passionate, uncontrolled fling with Sudoku before I had to say good-bye. It was just one obsession too many in my life.

I was completely clueless about Sudoku until son #1 showed me how to approach it. Once I understood how to play, it became addictive … especially playing on online app which gives you instant feedback and points (!) for getting it right. I especially liked the stars and fireworks when I’d get a line right.
Obviously I have an issue with instant gratification 😉

Um? That I do not understand. I think your ukulele is just adorable. Do you wear a hat when you strum? I agree with you on the pens. I like fat ones as well. I especially like rollerball pens. I would never touch your pens because I am selfish myself. My current fave is a triangular one I got at a cyber security seminar at IUPUI last year. It isn’t real fat but the shape fits my hand so well and it has a nub on top that I can use to text on my phone. I haven’t seen those pies at Aldi’s before. Have you tried the pizza dough balls at Trader Joe’s? One pound of dough for $1.25. Great.

Um is cause today is U in the April A-Z challenge, and I refuse to veer from my schedule 🙂
I haven’t seen the pizza dough balls, but I am also seldom at Trader Joe’s. I don’t mind to make crust from scratch, but I have the pizzas as a back up plan for when I don’t wanna cook at all 🙂 That is a good price, though.
It’s nice to know we all have our favorite pens.

I like to know what I’m eating, generally. And to be fair, I can’t buy enough goat cheese to make three pizzas more affordable that what they charge per pizza.

So agree on the hair length, haircut horrors. ☺ And we just got an Aldi here this year…they have some amazing stuff, and now have sworn to not sell any GMO foods…very impressive. 💖

I have a favorite pen too. I get the same one every year when I get my mammogram. It’s fat and pink with the word ‘mammography’ somewhere on it, which pretty much guarantees my hubs and sons will leave it alone.

It’s so great to meet other “pen people”. Years ago I was “addicted” to a certain type of pen, and when the company stopped making it, I was beside myself. I’ve learned now not to be quite so picky, but of course, I still cling to the good ones I come across and guard them zealously.

Hub is a pen hog. I won’t let him touch mine because he’ll walk away with it even if he doesn’t like it. He just puts it behind his ear and BAM! it’s gone. He’s got a whole HUGE cup of pens on his nightstand, yet he never writes in bed. He’s also been known to “swap” pens when at restaurants when he likes how a pen writes (he never asks, just leaves a pen he has in his pocket in exchange for the one he “likes” that the waiter leaves with the credit card slip).
I am a pen snob. Not that I like expensive pens, but like you, I likes what I likes. And I hide them around so I can always find one. I used to like long slim pens, but now I go for the chunky ones, too. Guess it’s because of the ease of grip. But mostly I keep pens for how smoothly they write and how they DON’T smear.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Haha! I have a friend who used to be like that with lighters. She’d barely get down the street and I’d call her, “BRING BACK MY LIGHTER!”
If I buy pens, I have to buy The Mister pens or my new ones will disappear. I don’t know. Shiny and new, I guess.
Ease of grip is important. I like a broader stroke, full ink, and who can tolerate smearing? Ew.

One of these days I am going to get around to trying the ukulele.
I had to laugh while reading your not-likely-to-share attitude towards your pens. It made me think of that old classic Kids in The Hall sketch: My Pen! https://youtu.be/yQ1pO-tZbYA

Hey Joey – first – I did think this instrument was from Hawaii –
and second, this is why I like blogging – pictures of the pizza!! (going to stop by our aldi later to see if they have some too – mmmm)
and I also like blogging because of the rich resources – unique and original – that folks bring to the community – and so your list will be one I explore this summer when I take some time to explore new blogs. I have done this the last two summers and end up with a few gems – cos sometimes certain blogs are just what our life needs. Also, I am glad you made a list. I know how hard it is to select a top list – but too many people worry about offending and sometimes I see that folks cannot even nominate a few select blogs because they do not want to be exclusive – but when we offer some top favs – it gives readers a chance to maybe find a new blog they need – so in that sense I say thanks for making a list. But I do know how hard it can be for some to do this –
anyhoo – heart ❤ to Felicity, RIP- ❤

I’m glad I could educate you on the origin of the ukulele 🙂
I’m also relieved to know you understand my hesitation to choose favorite blogs. That feels good, thank you.
I hope your Aldi has the pizzas, as mine doesn’t always stock this particular kind.
I also hope you find some new goodies in my list — There’s certainly a variety to choose from 🙂

thanks Joey – and I also think it is fun hat you actually ask for the pens – lol – and the funny thing is you can tell a lot about an organization by the pens they order for marketing – most are average- some really suck – but some are a smooth write –
oh and my friend Laura was recently sharing how she used to pick up lighters the way some pick up pens – back when she smoked she once had like 17 lighters in her big ol purse.

My favorite pen is my Colt Tactical pen. Its sort of a pen-stylus-penlight mashup thats way too heavy, overly long, bullet-proof (it got run over last year by a truck and it didnt even bend the clip,) ugly as all get out and its MINE. If we ever met on a chance encounter, or on purpose even..Itll be the pen I have on me.
Also, you have a ukulele??? And you call me hipster. 😛

Uke is such a popular instrument right now. I wonder if it is purely because it is easy. It isn’t easy for me, though, Too small for my HUGE hands. I know hands, and there’s nothing wrong with these hands. Believe me. I’ve got the best hands. Little Marco’s hands could play Ukulele, okay?

Did you know that I’m an office pen thief? Bordering on kleptomania. Be glad that you are not working in my office with your fat kitty pen…
I used to do the Milwaukee Journal crossword puzzle in pen, but I got away from it when I stopped buying a newspaper. I do crossword puzzles online now, but it really isn’t the same.

I have a few pens I like to use, but nothing special. I do enjoy using multiple colors of markers, thin ones to color in adult coloring books or pages the library sets out. My granddaughter who is 11 and I colored for an hour last week on one of my drop in nights. I received a nice taco plate to go, from my son. I like that you suggested Aldi’s pizzas. I like them, too. I add mushrooms, onions and pickled banana peppers. I have never completed successfully a crossword puzzle by myself! Lol

I think Arty has gained power recently. My arthritis is worse than my mother’s or grandmother’s as in more painful (but I’ll live). Hubby has terrible arthritis in his hands. His parents didn’t even have it. He has to wear support thingies most of the time, drops stuff and can’t do a lot of the simplest everyday tasks.

Nah, you’re right to assume, really — it does look like a small guitar, and you have no reference for scale in the photo. Most people think all ukuleles are tiny anyway 😀

Who would’ve thought that so much conversation could be created around the humble pen (or not so humble, depending on what sort you’ve got).
I’m also very possessive of my pens. At the pharmacy where I work, pens are always mysteriously disappearing. Once, I had a customer just walk away with my pen after signing for something. It took all of my self-restraint not to go after them.
Sad days also when a trusty pen finally runs out of ink…
