#ThursdayDoors — Simply Having a Wonderful…

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is head to the circle and see the big tree. I have posted about this before because it’s a tradition. For me. I don’t think anyone else gives a damn about it, but it makes me giddy!

It’s not an actual tree. It’s 4000+ lights strung to the top of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument.

Other buildings are decorated, of course, and the trees are all aglow with twinkly lights, and there are horses clickety-clacking along with carriages, and the whole scene pleases me no end.

While I was there, I snapped two doors on the fly.

The revenue from our twinkly lights allows IPL (Indianapolis Power & Light) to light up this pretty thing.

Parkly!   I just, Ooooh! Gah, I love twinkly lights!

And then I have a coupla doors not at all near Monument Circle, but still dressed-up for the holidays.

Cute, me thinks.

Cute with pretty lights works for me, especially this time of year. That red/yeloow combination really stands out.
All the best to you and yours for the holidays 😀

Yep the Circle is quite a sight this time of year. I miss the decorations in the department store windows. They were so intricate and joyful. All the buildings seemed so tall when I was young. The Circle is great still but it just isn’t the same.

  8. I know we all have to get back to ‘normal’ after the holidays, but it sure is boring. I love the decorations and the lights. 🙂 I really like the idea of lighting u[ the soldiers and sailors monument – serves two purposes. Merry Christmas to you and yours. 🙂

Nice tradition. I like the kids store door with (is that Granny) standing guard. Something about color and light and cold that makes visiting these places worth the effort. Thanks for sharing.

  11. That is quite the impressive lighting of the monument. I enjoy looking at everyone’s pretty lights! For us, we haven’t even managed to put out the star shower…. There’s still time, right?! 🙂

All the decorations with lights are my favourite at this time of year. It makes me sad when they’re turned off in January. We could use all that happy glow through the dark nights of winter.
Love the giant ‘tree’ at the beginning. I agree with you, it’s wonderful!!

Indy is a site to behold during the holidays :), btw you did stop in the Circle Center Mall to send out gift cards to your favorite blogger that lives in southern Indiana. You did! You are so sweet Joey :).

  17. Good habits are hard to break, but then again why would you want to when this happens every year. Hope the giddiness was contagious so everyone had a great Christmas!

You’ve got a lotta great choices of doors, Joey! Circle Tower doors has a remarkable copper tone to the metal. I love the little metal border above the doors, like it’s own filigreed miniature balcony railing. There’s a name for this. . . Fantastic doors post!

Thank you! You know you’re the only one who even mentioned that little stylistic element? i thought the ornate topper made it a great door 🙂
