I have two lilac bushes. They came with the house. When we met the house, it was July, and they bore no blooms at that time. Lilacs do not always bloom, and there are several kinds which bloom repeatedly throughout the year, though most bloom only in Spring. I suppose I’ll live here for quite some time before I know which I’ve got.
I cut a bundle from a limb that faces away from the house. Their fragrance is so intoxicating.
Again, I am so grateful to be home.

I love the smell of lilacs! Beautiful picture and color of your blooms.

I think lilacs are lovely, but they stuff up my nose like nothing else. I’m not even an allergy sufferer, but if I get around them, it’s congestion city. 😦

Oh how sad! I have dreadful allergies, but I must say, flowers have never bothered me. I love the smell of freshly mowed grass, and like a glutton, I inhale deeply and smile….so that I can look like a snotty, watery-eyed mess after *ACHOO!*

Beautiful pictures. Ours haven’t bloomed yet but I think we’re getting close. At some point, my wife will cut a bunch and bring them in. It’s a right of spring.

Ah, you got the dark purple kind. So beautiful. At my old house, I had a lilac tree (light purple blooms) and lily of the valley. Their combined scents were heavenly.

I have to disperse lily-of-the-valley today. Just about 200…I’m delighted to have them, but they’re crowded

Beautiful photo and last line of your post. Our lilacs aren’t blooming yet. We have one bush. And my neighbors have made a wall of them. I love how they fill our block for a day or two with their fragrance.
